Japan probes alleged cover-up at nuclear plant
[link to www.lasvegassun.com]

[snip]

Labor officials made onsite inspections at the Fukushima plant to examine dosimeter readings of the workers and other records, said Yasuhiro Kishi, an official at the Fukushima Labor Bureau.

Health and Labor Ministry officials repeatedly issued warnings to TEPCO during the first few months of the crisis about the company's lax oversight of workers' exposures. Officials have also said TEPCO had several workers share a dosimeter not just early in the crisis when the equipment was in short supply due to tsunami damage, but even after a full stock had been regained.

What a bunch of crap this is.. those responsible are being protected in-house.. as usual.
This will not be well-received ..Tepco should be dissolved and suffer individual prosecution because of these repeated actions to disassociate themselves from liability and responsibility for the worst nuclear disaster in history..

Tepco to let media glimpse 150 hours of March 2011 disaster teleconference footage
[link to www.japantimes.co.jp]

[snip]

The disclosure of the footage from March 11 to 15, 2011, will apparently be strictly limited, as the utility plans to show it just for five days from Aug. 6 to 10, and reporters will not be allowed to record or copy the footage. Tepco said reporters can take notes.

Tepco added that other than its executives whose names have been already publicly disclosed, it will mask employees' names to protect their privacy. Voices will also be masked whenever someone addresses another by name.

"We are concerned that if individuals' names could be identified, this could lead to those individuals being held responsible. They may become the target of abuse, and people around them may also be affected," a Tepco official told reporters.

Indian Point License Amendments Issued
On July 12, 2012, staff issued license amendments approving a newly-designed spent fuel transfer system at Indian Point. Starting in August, spent fuel assemblies will be transferred via a shielded transfer canister in a borated water environment from the Unit 3 to the Unit 2 spent fuel pool (SFP) prior to ultimate storage at the common Indian Point independent spent fuel storage installation (ISFSI). With the Unit 3 SFP virtually full, the licensee is currently unable to perform either a full core offload or the next refueling outage scheduled for March 2013.

DPJ scrambles to stop Ozawa exit sparking mass defections
[link to www.japantimes.co.jp]

[snip]

It was like a domino effect — lawmakers have been leaving in ones and in groups from the ruling Democratic Party of Japan.

They all had their reasons, many protesting Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda's unpopular tax hike bill, but others also voicing opposition to the reactivation of the idled nuclear reactors and the government's intention to join the Trans-Pacftic Partnership free-trade agreement.

As the number of Lower and Upper House lawmakers who have quit the ruling party has risen to 55 since Ichiro Ozawa and his allies split this month, the priority for Noda's administration is to nip any more exits in the bud and achieve a sense of internal unity.

Fukushima disaster worker says subcontractors siphoned money from wages
[link to mainichi.jp]

[snip]

A man hired to help bring the disaster at the tsunami-hit Fukushima nuclear plant under control has accused subcontractors of forcing him to work under illegal conditions and skimming off part of his wages.

The man has also filed a petition with the Nagasaki Labor Bureau against four lower-level subcontractors, complaining that they skimmed off part of his wages.

The Labor Lawyers Association of Japan, which supports the man, said that electric power company subcontractors commonly farm out work at nuclear plants to hired hands through several lower-level subcontractors, and skim off workers' wages.

The Process of Demonstrations here
in Japan is really very unique,
before the Friday Demonstrations we had only the Two bigger once but now all are unified under (N-) one Banner and i welcome this!

Already is the first Weeks after 03/11 i said that we can't reach the
masses of People with the Communists (as a Organizer) because of the dislike of the majority of the People here,
now we have a "unpolitical Protest"
and this works for Japan very well!

Some People don't like is and call for a stronger Protest but imo the
Time is not ripe for Barricades
and when the Government is smart
we can avoid this but they (the Government) need to learn that it is up to us, the Citizens, to create Laws and Realities!

Waterbug ..... Doesn't it ALWAYS seem to come down to MONEY/GREED, as in the skimming of wages by the subcontractors, you posted above ?

Men (?) stepping on other men to gain some power over the other AND, to NOT have to earn their way in life by REAL WORK, is generally the 'bottom line' on the downward spiral of civilization. That has been my observation in the last 84 years.

Thank you for keeping up this great work of yours. Many will benefit from it.

Thanks, Eagle. Good to see you posting here.

I've progressed from anger.. trying to convince deniers..
to.. posting information.. commenting..

The way I figure it.. those who want to know will find the information they need to confirm.
Those who don't.. won't.

They certainly don't have to believe anything I say. The information speaks for itself..
and there is plenty of it to chew on.

Anti-nuclear meeting held again in Fukushima
A major Japanese anti-nuclear group has called for support for people affected by the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi plant and decommissioning of all nuclear plants in Japan.

Gensuikin, or the Japan Congress Against Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs, began holding annual meetings in Fukushima City, in addition to Hiroshima and Nagasaki, after last year's accident. Fukushima Prefecture is home to the damaged nuclear plant.

The organizer says about 1,000 people from around the country took part in this year's event.

The Genkai plant in the Saga Prefecture is currently offline for regular inspections and nuclear experts have expressed concern over its aging No. 1 reactor, which began operating in 1975, The Asahi Shimbun reported Saturday.

"I just don't understand yet why the transition temperature is so high," said Hiromitsu Ino, professor emeritus of metal materials science at the University of Tokyo. "I have doubts about the (pressure vessel's) safety. The No. 1 reactor should not be put back in operation."
