Policy Research Council Chief Goshi Hosono announced the plan on Saturday. Nuclear contamination in Fukushima Prefecture has slowed progress in reconstruction efforts. The 4 teams will each be assigned a separate task. The first will work on supporting local people's lives, the second promoting decontamination work, the third protecting sales of farm produce from unfounded rumors, and fourth creating new communities for evacuees living outside their hometowns. I saw today in our Meeting a Plan for giant Greenhouses, mixed with Animals in one Building, so they can use even the massive contaminated Space inside of the Hot Zone without loosing this much needed Space for the Food Production. This new Greenhouses mixed with Animal Stables is really Innovativ, they can use Methane and there will be no Dirt coming out of this Process and they need no Energy from the Outside! This "Greenhouses" are really big, like a Shopping Mall! G.Y.!B.E. |

Fukushima exports 1st beef in 30 months Cattle farmers in Fukushima Prefecture have resumed beef exports to the United States for the first time in 2 and a half years. Farmers celebrated the shipment of 3 cattle with a ceremony on Sunday. The leader of a local agricultural cooperative said the resumption is a tailwind for Fukushima farmers who have been suffering from the effects of the nuclear accident. The 3 cattle will be processed in Japan and the meat will be sold to upscale restaurants in the United States. [link to www3.nhk.or.jp] . |

As an Idaho “downwinder,” Hodges is disappointed Congress hasn’t yet expanded RECA. “For the government, which caused this problem, to say ‘Your thyroid isn’t worth anything, you aren’t worth anything,’ it’s tough to take,” Hodges said. “When you have cancer it doesn’t just impact you. Your entire family is devastated.” |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 24001598 Sweden 10/15/2012 12:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Fukushima operator feared shutdown if risks revealed TEPCO ignored chance of big tsunami, 'fesses up to fear of regulation The operator of the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear power plant, TEPCO, has admitted it was ill-prepared to cope with the tsunami of March 2011, and promised to do better in future. That promise is articulated in a new document, Fundamental Policy for the Reform of TEPCO Nuclear Power Organization (PDF), released last Friday. The document makes for sobering reading, as TEPCO admits it had not paid a lot of attention to safety since 2002 and simply decided tsunamis of the scale that arrived last March would not be a problem because “... there were no watermarks or records of one.” The report also says “There was no awareness that a tsunami exceeding site elevation would directly result in a severe accident.” [link to www.theregister.co.uk] . |

That's almost enough to make me want to move to Lithuania. Nuclear anything is terrifying. It has so much potential to go wrong with such devastating results. It is abhorrent that we have the ability to power so much with the sun and instead we make these ticking time bombs. I mean, really, how much is standing that was standing a thousand years ago? With nuclear, the half-life is such that any responsible person would require themselves to think in such terms or know that it would result in disaster if they did not. As above, So below. |

The core of a reactor generates radioactive substances in large quantities. The initial 30-year lifespan of the aged nuclear reactor expired and was extended by 10 years in January 2008. The Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), which operates the reactor, intentionally omitted these facts in its report on the proposed extension of the core. [link to english.hani.co.kr] . |
