My Grandmother
Tamako Kubota passed away.

She was 96.
We buried her December 7th.. looking back its ironic.
She was the last survivor from Hiroshima in her group.
She was a teacher all her life.
People on one side of her school building disappeared, on her side they survived.
She was burnt black on an arm and one side of her face.

Being a true christian she then walked into Hiroshima proper and helped survivors more injured than she was.
Unintentionally exposing herself to more radiation.


She was the last survivor from Hiroshima of an ongoing research project started in 1945 by the Japanese Government, The American Government, and The Canadian government monitoring the effects of low level radiation on the "caregivers" who survived the Hiroshima Bomb blast, and looked after the victims, I mean people.
Hiroshima was what we would call a dirty bomb today.

Every member of her research group except her died by 1986.
Every member died of cancer.
100% except her.
She had it three times. She was 82 the last time.

All her medical bills were paid by the three governments since 1945.

The data on the long term "lethal effects of low level radiation exposure" has been well documented by all three countries since 1945.
Yet they deny it exists.
I declare the statistical and medical information and documentation does exist.

COLUMBIA, SC — Radioactive pollution is getting worse on parts of South Carolina’s nuclear-waste dump near Barnwell, but state regulators say cleaning up the contaminated groundwater isn’t in their plan.

Tritium continues to exceed federal safe drinking-water standards in and around the 41-year-old burial ground that has come to symbolize South Carolina’s historic willingness to accept the nation’s garbage. In some spots tritium levels are higher today than they were five years ago.

But the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control says the site is stable overall and no one is drinking the polluted water. So for now, the agency has no plan for a tritium cleanup. The dump’s operator, Energy Solutions, agrees.

Among the data:

• In the oldest part of the Barnwell landfill, tritium levels have been found recently that exceed 29 million pico curies per liter of water. But that’s more than 1,400 times higher than the Environmental Protection Agency’s safe drinking water standard of 20,000 pico curies per liter, according to data reviewed by The State newspaper last week. The current reading is about 2 million pico curies higher than in 2007, DHEC records show.

• In Mary’s Branch, a small creek just below the site, tritium levels exceeded 500,000 pico curies per liter. That meets the federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission radiation standard DHEC must ensure the site complies with. But it’s 25 times higher than the EPA’s standard for safe drinking water, The State found. Tritium levels at Mary’s Branch are roughly the same as they were in 2007, records show. The creek flows into the Savannah River.

Tritium is a fast-moving radioactive pollutant that has been linked to certain forms of cancer in people who drink water containing large quantities of the material. But it also can indicate the flow of more toxic contaminants that are expected to move in groundwater later. Substances such as uranium and plutonium are among those.
