Activists hope to maintain momentum of antinuclear protests

"Get rid of nuclear power plants!" "Don't restart them!" Protesters shouted out such slogans through numerous speakers on a chilly February evening just outside the Japanese prime minister's office in Tokyo where about 3,000 people gathered to oppose nuclear power.

Two years after the Fukushima nuclear disaster, the weekly protests exhibit vigor equaling levels seen at their peak although they have become smaller in scope, as the Liberal Democratic Party -- the very promoter of nuclear energy over the past half-century -- returned to power late last year.
