^^this info misses the critical points of how radiation damages cells on an atomic level
-yes ionic particles (free radicals) damage cells by ripping 'electrons' from their molecular structure to stablise themselves (this is the same with and combustion/chemical reaction), but isotopes also have nuclei (proton, neutron) instability, as the nucleus has been destroyed
-the bonds that hold the nucleus together are far stronger than the ones holding the electrons to the atom, and so have a devastating effect when in contact with anything -esp living cells -they are so unstable they 'bond' to other molecules nucleus, changing the characteristic of their structure, reforming it -when this happens on living cells its called mutation

this is what makes the deadly even deadlier -the body dont recognise isotopes well as 'hostile'. as they mimic other normal elements in their new structure/weight, so the immune response (sympathetic nerve system) dont know what to do and dont heal well
(self immune problems i bet ya are linked to toxicity)
