Yes they lied and we all knew this but what difference does it really make to know if the lied or not. It does not change what has already happened. Melt downs and melt throughs happened within the first 4 days. Us knowing about it or not will not make a difference.
The whole situation may be a million time worse than Chernobyl but so what? If it is then it is and not much can be done about it.

If they had set off nukes and started ww3 too many people would have run and hid, lived underground for a few years, been aware of the rediation food problems and acted accordingly and some might have survived.
