THE INTERNATIONAL FORECASTER editor Bob Chapman writes: It wasn´t that long ago we talked in terms of $100 oil and we were scoffed at. Then Goldman Sachs was ridiculed when they said they could see $105 oil.

We recently saw $70.85 and .... if the lunatics running our government invade Venezuela, Iran and Syria ... it will get there post haste.

Even if we are not correct, we are looking at a prolonged period of oil over $60 or at least $55 a barrel. Any major disruptions in production from Saudi Arabia (there is fighting in the streets there as we write), Iran, Nigeria or Venezuela would vault prices higher. No one thought we would see $70 a barrel ... so oil prices hitting the three-figure zone cannot be ruled out.

The Venezuelan national oil company, Petroleos de Venezuela will ship one million barrels of gasoline this month directly to the US in order to relieve the shortage caused by hurricane Katrina. This is in addition to normal shipments. The additional gasoline will be distributed by CITGO ... it will come in four shipments in September.

Deputy Secretary of State Robert Zoellick says China will be increasingly in conflict with the US if it continues to pursue energy deals with countries like Iran and is unlikely to gain the energy security it seeks.

The administration wants China to adopt a broader definition of energy that included cooperative efforts with Washington.

They want to make Chavez out to be a bad guy pretty soon....need a reason for the propaganda.....recently Chavez decided that he didn´t want to sell us oil, but would sell it to other countries starting with the Bahamas at $40 a barrel..google it, it´s fairly recent.....then we had the hurricane....there was a very interesting documentary on the Venezuelan election that i saw this year as well....these are a people that i truly respect, and Chavez has vowed a 100 yr war (Sorcha Faal article)if the US is so ignorant as to try to invade....Power to them and anyone else at this point....the madness must cease....
