-so do you people pronounce the 't' in 'often', or were you taught correctly, and know it was meant to be silent???

Yeah for some reason lirics (as in words of a copyrighted song) are a no-no around here.

Not had a problem with posting a verse or two, any more and it gets usually gets deleted with kharmic implications.

Did anyone ever listened to rap/hip hop back in the late 80's at all???
I've been singing this song to my kids and now because I can't find it anywhere online they think I made it up!lol
