Should I take off the 20 minutes and readjust to SET with adjustment of 20 minutes or just let the national power grid sort it out? In other words, this will shut down much of the internet for as long as the discrepancies are happening. |

Translation: CERN made a black hole that made its way to the middle of the earth and will start to fuck up space time around mid july. Power grid my ass, how does varying the current effect the piezoelectric properties of a quartz crystal that runs the clock? Second, the government would not do this on purpose, think of all the lawsuits if they fry everybody's electronics. They arnt doing this, its a big fucking cover and pretty damn transparent. Wouldn't congress need to approve something that could destroy millions of household appliances. something is out of control. |

For some reason, this particular bit from the article makes it even creepier. This seems like a joke...they are really going to start futzing around with the power grid, with unknown outcomes, in the middle of summer? |

Remember Sicily clocks 20 minutes fast thread days ago? Honestly...I think that the solar storms, which we seen scientists claim are getting worse, are the reason for them messing with the power grid. Maybe they are trying to find frequencies that won't be affected by the solar storms? I'm just guessing here, but that would make sense to me. I found this on the nerc website regarding solar storms: [link to www.nerc.com] |

I found this on the nerc website regarding solar storms: Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1432437[link to www.nerc.com] [link to www.spaceweather.gc.ca] Space weather phenomena have a variety of effects on technology. Energetic particles thrown out from the sun interact with the earth's magnetic field producing magnetic disturbances and increased ionization in the ionosphere, 100 to 1000 km above the earth. The high energy particles affect satellites causing misoperation or equipment damage that can put the satellite out of operation. Radio waves used for satellite communications or GPS navigation are affected by the increased ionization with disruption of the communication or navigation systems. The magnetic disturbances directly affect operations that use the magnetic field, such as magnetic surveys, directional drilling, or compass use. Magnetic disturbances also induce electric currents in long conductors such as power lines and pipelines causing power system outages or pipeline corrosion. |

I think this can explain allot of our electrical anomalies right now. AND it will be very interesting to see how we react with no power interference when the grid goes down. I think its going to affect people allot more than expected. The youngster said angrily " If our founding Fathers could see what is going on, they would roll over in their graves!" The Ol'Timer shook his head and smiled. " No, they would be grabbing their guns". WANT CHANGE??? Quit paying your income tax. |
