San Francisco Considers Banning the Sale of All Pets
By Maria L. La Ganga, Los Angeles Times

The first vision was simple and straightforward: To curtail puppy mills and kitten factories, the sale of cats and dogs should be banned in San Francisco, where the loving guardians of animal companions come to regular blows — politically — with the loving parents of children.

The ban was put on hold last year after animal advocates broadened it to include anything with fur or feathers. Now it's back, with a new name and a new strategy: More is more. The Humane Pet Acquisition Proposal is on its way to the Board of Supervisors, and it hopes to protect everything from Great Danes to goldfish.

Yes, goldfish. And guppies, gobies, gouramies, glowlight tetras, German blue rams. No fish, no fowl, no reptiles, no amphibians, no cats, no dogs, no gerbils, no rats. If it flies, crawls, runs, swims or slithers, you would not be able to buy it in the city named for the patron saint of animals.

This is one piece of legislation I feel is good. Pets are absolutely pointless. I can't stand single girls with dogs. They use them as defacto companions and it is really pathetic. (Hint: Single GLP girls, get rid of your pets if you are serious about finding a boyfriend/husband).

I think going after fish is a bit extreme, but if fish have to be axed to have a blanket ban on pets, then I am all for it.

Re: San Francisco Considers Banning the Sale of All Pets
and what is going to happen on the day this law comes in? hundreds of innocent animals which can no longer be sold, baby ones probably, will all be killed.and probably not very humanely.

if we couldnt buy pets, i wouldnt have my babybird that i love.

now, some people do treat animals awfully either from breeding them or keeping them as pets and they should be punished but why should everyone else and animals lose out on the love that can be shared?

San Francisco is supposed to be the most liberal, free-spirited place on Earth, is it not?

So why do I constantly note that they are becoming more and more fascist?

Is that the unavoidable end-result of the left?
I'm not too fond of Signatures. Why would I want to end every post the same way?

Stupidity abounds! San Franciscans have been known before for the STUPIFYING craziness of this sort. Nothing new here they are just trying to preserve their record.

San Franciscans will have to go across the bridge to Oakland and buy puppies from shady characters on street corners ...

And any pets who remain in SF will be checked by the penis police to be sure that they are uncircumcised.

We will ALL be so much better off when that part of the Country goes into the sea.

Hope Pelosi is there when it happens.

Well it could lead to an animal black market. Probably what needs to happen is TSA needs to put up checkpoints to search for animals.

Excellent, I just wish the law went further by outlawing the breeding of dogs and cats. The world is overrun with these beautiful, loving creatures who need to be cared for. It is barbarity to intentionally breed more.
