Anonymous Coward User ID: 1314605 United States 06/28/2011 01:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have a bachelor's degree in Biology from State..but I've never been able to find anything more than a 11.00 an hour since college graduation 10 years ago. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1402536This is your problem; you need to get a masters or higher in a science degree to actually do anything of value--note: Engineering is not considered science for this statement. LEGAL foreign workers are willing to work cheaper than you are. Many of them have degrees in biology. Also, too many Americans study biology hoping that one day they will go to medical school, yet they never do. Your problem is a basic supply and demand issue--the supply exceeds demand thereby competing your wage rate down. |

FUCK A WORK User ID: 1228077 United States 06/28/2011 02:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Work isn't life man. Work is just to provide paper for us to live in this country. It's all bullshit man. No need to work 40 hour work weeks, unless that is what you enjoy. If you already thought about it,then you want to do it. Those women are just their for the illusion of money MAKES them feel happy. That doesn't make you less of a man. It actually makes you more a man a real fucking person. If some bitch leaves you because you choose to work part time and it makes you happy. Well then fuck that bitch. You didn't need her anyway. She was just an illusion to fuck you over. Instead you went the other route and then their illusion was destroy. So they left you to be with the illusion they see. The illusion of the bling out car with the bling out clothes to the bling out ILLUSION called LIFE. Who cares if you die poor? You're dead it DOESN'T MATTER. Use the Free time to meet a REAL person that isn't caught up in the ILLUSION. Or perhaps the ILLUSION IS YOU!!! Muahhuahuhaa aww fuck them corporate work bullshit and them gold digging bitches. They sucked off a horse that was on it's death bed for nickel. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1446219 United States 06/28/2011 02:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Good for you. Live your life without slaving your days away. There are creative ways to do so. You sound a little depressed/discouraged. I don't know if you are or not but if so, don't be. It's a waste of energy. The key is, you have to find things to prevent boredom and create interest. Find something you enjoy and then go do it. It doesn't take much money even if you think it does. Example. I love livestock and gardening but refuse to be a slave to a miserable job so I found someone with land and I keep his house clean in exchange for living here and having livestock and a garden. The barter system is awesome. |

ATM I'm saving to get the hell out. I dont want to work AT ALL anymore. The boredom is unbearably depressing. Less of a man? To some, maybe. But, seriously, those are the types of people you will just need to avoid. Best wishes to you in your quest. |
Tracy User ID: 1198157 Australia 06/28/2011 02:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Doesnt make you less of a man at all. Parameters vary for each individual person. From the observations made in the following report it seems like the average men would prefer to work 20-30 hours per week (if its in a job they like and not menial labour)....unless they have kids and then they prefer to work 40+...probably to get away from the little buggers and the extra housework! Minimum 8500 displacement. an amazing one will cost you like 13 grand. will be 30+ feet. Great to live on and you can go anywhere you please and it costs nothing. Fish for food, go wherever you like. ANd its also the safest way to cross the ocean. also costs $300 a month at a marina with water/power, so super low rent. Wont need a fulltime job with $300 for rent and all your meat being catchable from the sea. all you need is a solar panel (electric stove and etc in the boat) and you're solid. They are made to last a long time, and buying a brand new one makes no sense unless you have the cash. But you can get one at half that price. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1238594 United States 06/28/2011 03:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP, if you can support yourself and not take welfare or food stamps, not having a full-time job is fine. This is the classic starving artist or musician scenario. Maybe you're a starving writer and haven't realized it or something. And yes, members of the opposite sex usually want partners at their own level, as a minimum, and dependent women often want wealthier partners who will support them. That's just one of the tradeoffs you'll have to look at to see if this lifestyle is worth it for you. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1446290 United Kingdom 06/28/2011 03:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok.. I'm not on food stamps or any handout.. so I'm 36 and I have a bachelor's degree in Biology from State..but I've never been able to find anything more than a 11.00 an hour since college graduation 10 years ago. Ive had numerous full time office jobs which only lasted a few months b/c they became unbearably dull and boring and made me severely depressed. I would long for the weekends just so I could have some time to surf the net for some interesting info.. or just have my FREE time to feel ALIVE..then the weekends never lasted long enough. I would like to do alot of things in life that require money to do.. but since I can never make enough to do it anyway..I figure why not just give up and work part time..just to buy a little food and pay for my gas and rent..and at least have my "time".. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1402536I mean.. when I do work full-time.. I only spend more money on food.. or buy worthless "material" items I don't really need anyway. So why even do it?! Does anybody see where I'm coming from.. I just don't want to wasted my life in a boring office when I will still die poor.. and even if you do buy a house eventually after years of full time work and saving.. you will still die in a nursing home and you can't take it with you when you go..so whats the purpose?? I've lost a couple really good girls b/c they said I wasn't going anywhere. I think I'm a pretty smart guy.. I just can't bear the thought of "not" having free time. Any thoughts???????????????????????????????? Or can anyone identify????????????? You're better of without that selfish type, they probably needed a larger wallet to plunder. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 534475 Canada 06/28/2011 04:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That's normal, employment is unnatural. You studied biology, maybe you admire the more "natural" lifestyle. I'm the same way right now, I'm in University but I can't stand working for more than a few months at a time especially for practically no pay (I'd rather be poor!). I enjoy learning and trying new things, bettering myself but just doing the same pointless things over and over again makes me depressed. I'm looking forward to becoming more independent and hopefully running my own business one day, owning some land, animals, growing my own food etc. We're in the same boat, I guess. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1286656 United States 06/28/2011 06:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'll add: Working hard creates results for society and keeps the machine going. Look at the Muslim world to see the results of no real drive for work and excellence. The solution I have come up with for wanting more time to read and feel connected is to get up at 5am so that I have a couple of hours to mess around on GLP before work. It actually helps start the day good, so I don't feel like i'm being cheated out of free time .... |
