Some of my best friends for years are from Canada. I respect them whole heartedly, but I must confess, I laughed at the video.

I too have hedges and I absolutely detest doing them. I'm thinking about just pulling them out and saying fuck it. It takes about 3 complete days to do my hedges :/

from what ive noticed, most haters in other countries dont understand the size and variety of our country, they tend to generalize people.. i wouldnt assume all french are the same, or that all germans are the same... but the french and the germans have a more detailed and nuanced "national identity" than americans.. because americans have only a very vague and broad national identity but very detailed and nuanced "STATE identity" and these identities are apparently unknown by the rest of the world..

it would be like assuming europe was all the same, the middle east was all the same(haha americans do this too much), all of africa was the same(this too, im sure were not alone)..

we also have "REGIONAL identities".. i think most people are aware of them... the south, the north, the west, the midwest... do you know about the bible belt? the ozarks? the appalachia? the sierra? pacific northwest? the upper midwest? which are the "wild" states? which are the "dumb" states? which are the "boring" states? which are the "arrogant self-important" states? which are the "racist" states? where do the queers live? where do the hippies live? where do the rednecks live? where do the hillbillies live? where do the mobsters live? where do the mormons live? where do the cowboys live? where do the indians live?

Truth be told, I have met many fucking awesome people from a diverse set of countries and I can honestly say, they are my fellow humans. Do I have a chip on my shoulder? Probably, but I can at least say, I have met a bunch of people from a plethora of different countries that I would gladly give my life for.

Chill out dude. For what it's worth, I've been to the states several times, I'm fully aware of the nuances at "Regional" level. I am also aware that the majority of Americans, whilst lovely people, seem to be auditioning for an imaginary film role. It's like walking through a Truman Show set. But therein lies the real question, maybe it is. I believe it was Shakespeare who said something alomg the lines of the world being a stage and all of us actors. Who knows, maybe you yanks are ahead of the game.

I think the OP has a point, but his/her point is just too generalized.

Some Americans will do crazy stunts, are willing to do jackass things to get a laugh, even at their own expense.

Americans like to come up with new ideas, even if they are goofy or silly. Sometimes they are ingenious.

People in other countries (at least the ones I've visited) are not as entertained or enthralled by these boisterous, crazy, sometimes arrogant behaviors and stunts. Although they usually like to watch them on television, they resent it when in person.

when americans are coming in france, they are so in chocked we do not pay for health (the society paid and all is used for everybody), we have time to spend with our families (3 months for vacation), work and money is not what ppl here are the most proud of (education, friendship, family are more important) etc

about france, some parts of this country are really amazing and the ppl are so great in their hearts but i'm sure some parts of the usa are the same and they don't show themselves enough for the sake of the entire country
