prison sentences have a weird relationship to the crime. I have friends who have done 20 years.

He's not going to get ANY jail time. The article says clearly that the prosecutor is not seeking jail time.

I hope he's got a great attorney. The felony charge shouldn't stick. What he's done in no way fits the description of criminal mischief. Nothing was damaged. No jury is going to give this kid a felony or put him in jail for this. I know he's scared, but it's going to be okay. If the prosecutors have any sense at all, they'll drop the felony charge. It's just silly.

What worries me is that the teacher that found the doll didn't know what the hole between its legs was for!

Indiana is an unbelievable Racist State outside of the big urban areas. I found it MUCH worse than the rural parts of the deep south.

If this kid was from a White Middle Class family there is NO WAY they would have filed that level of charges against him in that part of Indiana!! They most likely would have held a school hearing and at worst, but not likely, would have kept him from attending his HS Graduation ceremony.

I wonder how many White kids in that town have done WORSE over their high school careers and not had ANY charges of any sort ever filed against them? Probably at least a few dozen.

The senior prank back in high school... ah the memories. LOL

Seriously, law enforcement has gone overboard these days. Back in the 80's some of the seniors stole a truck full of bricks and constructed a brick wall in the main hallway overnight.

What was their punishment? They didn't get to walk the graduation ceremony with the other seniors and they didn't get to do the end of the year fun activties like grad night and a picnic.

No jail time. No one pressed charges for a prank. Though I think the parents had to pay the guy for the bricks.

Similar case in NJ, State Trooper, ran a red light or stop sign, killed two teenaged sisters who had just gone out on an errand to buy milk. Nothing happened to him, he probably retired with full benefits. Disgusting.
