We have allowed huge corporations to take over small farming and that is a mistake... for the goverment can control big corps.. But if everytime someone writes a paper that puts you in fear, ignore it. Eat what you want and medicate like you will... As long as 'we the people' still do that, we are untouchable. stop reacting start ACTING! |

You know what they say of the paranoid, it's not schizophrenia if someone is really out to get you. The USA government IS a Corporation, btw, in a literal sense. These are the same people who took away cannabis, gave us fluoride and countless other environmental poisons over the decades. These people can now order rural farmers to grow Genetically Modified crops or grow Lab Hamburger. All they need to do is just say "it will improve things" and viola, it's policy. It's time to take back our food for ourselves. Last Edited by Calaf on 07/06/2011 08:40 PM |

[link to www.hesperian.org] and Tom Brown has some great stuff about wild edibles and medicinal herbs as well [link to www.amazon.com] [link to www.amazon.com] and one of my favorites is [link to www.amazon.com] Don't forget that there are often free lectures at local historical societies and living history museums. It is unbelievable the skills that are free to learn at some of those places. From herbalism, to wildcrafting, soapmaking, processing flax and wool, post and beam construction, cooking over a fire, etc. and also remember where you collect your plants is important..roadsides are not always a good choice because of the chemicals the plants are exposed to. |

Mission and Function of the Council The Council shall work across executive departments, agencies, and offices to coordinate development of policy recommendations to promote economic prosperity and quality of life in rural America, and shall coordinate my Administration's engagement with rural communities. The Council shall: (a) make recommendations to the President, through the Director of the Domestic Policy Council and the Director of the National Economic Council, on streamlining and leveraging Federal investments in rural areas, where appropriate, to increase the impact of Federal dollars and create economic opportunities to improve the quality of life in rural America; (b) coordinate and increase the effectiveness of Federal engagement with rural stakeholders, including agricultural organizations, small businesses, education and training institutions, health-care providers, telecommunications services providers, research and land grant institutions, law enforcement, State, local, and tribal governments, and nongovernmental organizations regarding the needs of rural America; (c) coordinate Federal efforts directed toward the growth and development of geographic regions that encompass both urban and rural areas; and (d) identify and facilitate rural economic opportunities associated with energy development, outdoor recreation, and other conservation related activities. The FDA likely will soon ban all herbal medicines and supplements formulated after 1994. The FDA seems bound and determined to decide what USA citizens eat and how they treat themselves. Our government makes very poor dietary choices for it's citizens. The FDA was only meant to keep impurities and false claims out of the market, now they choose our consumption for us. This is also happening on a world-scale. In Europe, some places have banned herbal medicines. Forget that a few herbal medicines are overrated to a fault. Some are very effective. In fact, most modern medicines are based on compounds found in nature. Yet the FDA is now saying nature is no good for us? This is a dangerous power they now possess, especially considering the federal governments record. ___________________________________________________________ So I suggest we put our resources together and figure out what to eat if they checkmate us. Either physically, technically, or legally. Since this kind of thing is very regional, make sure you include that information. Wild edibles, wild medicinal treatments, easily grown plants, primitive medicine and herbs. There are some herbal medicines of value that one might want to acquire and store for SHTF use, due to the possibility one will not be able to grow or acquire plants from distant regions. Keeping a few hundred viable heirloom vegetable seeds might be a great idea, especially if there's several mouths to feed. Remember, if you think this stuff is valuable and if you think you might need to USE it one day. You needsmust PRINT a copy or two, if the grids go offline. Do not assume you will remember plant characteristics, identification, primitive techniques, or any other such information. Keep a hard copy of this stuff somewhere or it's all in vain. Practice it too. Go for hikes in the woods and I.D. food. Eat it if you're sure. I haven't carried food on a hike in awhile because I pick-n-nibble food as I walk the entire time. These are searchable sites with unbelievable plant usefulness data. Food and Medicinal uses [link to www.pfaf.org] [link to www.complete-herbal.com] For those who have seeds and intend to garden, also for primitive skills: [link to www.motherearthnews.com] Wild Edibles Missouri: [link to www.amazon.com] North America: [link to www.amazon.com] General, North America, website: [link to wildfoodplants.com] ____________________________________________________________ Here is a short list of herbs that can be grown and are considered multi-use herbal medicines. Cannabis (easy to grow, numerous health benefits, would possess immense trade value in Post-Apocolyptia) Ginseng (possible to wildcraft or even farm, takes a minimum of 4 years, 6 is better) Teas (you have your green tea, oolong, black tea, yerba mate, coca, among others. Besides a tasty beverage, teas pass along health benefits over time) Tobacco (whatever you think of it, it can be grown and folks will really want it, trade value) ____________________________________________________________ I don't know about you, but I think of my federal government as incompetent and crooked. Such persons must not be allowed to have control over what medicines I choose. Such persons should not be allowed to decide what local farmers do with their fields and harvests. These choices should not belong to the government. I take this as a threat against my health and believe others should as well. I'm very tired of being intentionally poisoned by flouride, pesticides, Genetically Modified, Lab-Grown, and the endless other piles of filth they are passing off as food these days. This stuff is more than just health too, it can affect the mind and decision-making to eat their aspartame, MSG, High-Fructose Corn Spooge.
