usgs shows 15 equakes in last 12 hours in the Kermadec Islands region!! Is this Volcanic??

The Kermadec Trench runs from the islands down the East Coast of New Zealand's North Island. There are many active undersea volcanoes along this fault which continues through NZ via the general areas of Whakatane, Rotorua, Taupo, The central North Island Volcanic Mountains and further south. Basically it is the plates Pacific/Indian boundary. Not to be surprised if more activity arises anywhere along the fault/plate boundary.

Wasn't the two large equakes on tuesday 5 July near Taupo? Around the same time as the Korumburra Victoria quake?

The Kermadec Islands, located about 750 - 1,000 km north-east of New Zealand, are some of the most active offshore volcanoes in New Zealand. The Kermadec Islands are the summits of large volcanoes that have been built on the crest of the Kermadec Ridge. There are also several submarine volcanoes.

It shows 0 activty and green aviation color. Hope it stays that way, and this rumble shall to pass. Problem is, that all these rumbles and belches of volcanos starting up again is going to equal to something tragic soon!

Get google Earth and in the menu of what you want shown on globe , tick the earthquake box and the volcano box . Then you will have icons on globe at a certain height when zooming in.

I can't. I have slow ol dial/up, and a slow ol computer, and can't do spiffy fast things ; < *sigh* have to rely on written word, and the slow web world, and occasionally my friends iphone utube ; )

Posts: 290 Alot of quakes happening around NZ as of the past week or so, through the alpine fault across to the hikurangi trench/kermadecs then central NI to above NZ in the Kermadecs.
Joe who is the barceroller has pointed out a possible 6 plus event up to 6.6 for christchurch in the coming 10 or so hours hes been spot on for us everytime hes said that.
The activity latly has been rather quiet although finally felt one tonight first in about a week, 4.4 in the foothills but could be a foreshock warning to something larger.
Keep watch on the quake sites guys, ill be going to bed tonight with my torch close by etc.

When you have Google Earth the EARTHQUAKE symbols give you the magnitude . 2.4 , 3.2 , 9.2 , 7.6 all quakes ; tis a good box to tick [ under Primary Data base , Gallery , Earthquakes and volcanoes ] ; SEE THEM ALL , AROUND the ENTIRE WORLD.

REAL TIME TOO .

Weather , you can see storms , Tornadoes , Hurricanes ,Cyclones ETC as they are happening .

No its not volcanic, it a major rupture of the fault line in that area.
