I don't know...

I don't see how slamming a clam shell against a rock implies using a tool..

Now if the fish had grabbed some coral in it's mouth and pried it open... that would be a different story..

he used the rock to get it open. He may not have picked a rock up or something, but he figured that by smashing the clam against the rock it would open it. Therefore, he used a tool :D

Well I guess that's the crux of the debate.. What constitutes tool use.. Does the fish have to be holding the rock for it to be considered tool use..?

The issue over what constitutes tool use is addressed in the article too...
