Does flourescent lights have any effect on you

prolly because where you work they use flourescent lighting, brings u to a feeling of being watched/under scrutiny.

They're fricken depressing as hell. Hate them.

Do you have Lupus? If you do, flourescent lights can make you physically ill, and cause a polymorphic light erruption on your skin. It is a type of reddish rash.

Only on LSD, but it's exactly as you described it. :)

Are you in a building with older fixtures? Really old fixtures used ballasts that didn't chop up the ac to make it smooth and the result was a lot of flicker.

Its kind of like an old crt monitor running at 60 hz. Not very pleasant.

Fluorescent lamps might but flourescent lamps won't.

The high frequency flicker caused by modern electronic ballast that drive fluorescent lamps can be perceived by a very small percentage of the population causing the symptoms you described.

Within 30 minutes under commercial flourescent lights, (grocery stores and Mega Lo Marts) my hands swell up like balloons, dehydrate me until my tongue swells and often times it causes seizures (which I'm prone to). Never been diagnosed with Lupus but I do get weird red dots on my swollen hands from the lights as well.

took them all out and replaced with incandescent........then went to wally world and bought a sheet load of more incandescent lights.

the light is in my kitchen ..overhead encased in some
frosted plexiglass...70's style and yucky..we need to tear it all out.

We have other lights in the kitchen that i use and never
have to turn that flourescent light on.

but yeah, like in stores where they have those lights
(which is most) i just rush through get what i need
and get out as fast as i can

I don't like them at all. I also don't like the new led lights. Guess I need to start hoarding light bulbs since the newer ones are all "blue" light. They are very depressing to me as well. I love the soft, warm glow, especially in the winter.

i have ms and those lights make me sick

why switch to LED tubes and get rid of the ballast.... easy fix and they will only draw 15w each vs 35... and it's a cleaner light.

I've had lupus for the last year, I don't know what these lights do to me, but in grocery stores and other stores if I stay more that 10 minutes I'd start to feel dizzy, want to puke and get confused at some point I almost fainted two or three times..
I was just a normal guy before never been affected by any of these things
I feel like it's not only old school ballasts that get me to this state, but maybe also the "spirally" fluorescent ones too
The worst this, is that my Macbook screen is getting me to these conditions after an hour of work :S

Give me eyestrain and blinding headaches. Hate the effing things.

I use DC florescent lighting because of my solar power, I love them.
