Re: If you're eager for someone to burn in hell, you're a heartless witch
People need to take themselves out of their little bubble they live in and realize there is a whole world out there full of different beliefs and that their hometown isnt the center of the universe. There have been billions of people that believe in Jesus, billions of people that have believed in Islam, billions who were Hindu, billions who probably believed in nothing, there are those who worshiped the sun, there are those who believed in Zeus. And all of them believed in these things because of when and where they were born. The point being no one knows what the hell is going on. Who knows, maybe the creator did send a form of himself to earth. I cant tell you if he did or didnt and neither can you.

God is Holy, there's nothing corrupt about Him. Do you think that corruption can even stand in His presence? I sure don't.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1553081

Right, but do you sincerely feel that obstinate humans are actually any challenge for Him? Some folks come to repentance before they leave this life, and some don't, but in the end, every knee will bow and every tongue confess the Lord, yes? In Luke 19, Jesus said He's come to seek and save the lost. . .the Greek word for "lost" there is apollumi, which means "destroyed" or "ruined". Even those somehow "destroyed" are not too far gone from His reach.

In Matthew 11, He says "All [things] are delivered to me of my Father", and in John 6 He says He will lose nothing of all He's been given. The problem is that Religion and its adherents don't truly believe this, so they concoct all sorts of excuses as to why the Redeemer will fail at saving most of mankind. The predominant doctrine has turned God into an impotent bystander, handcuffed by the all-powerful choices made by blind, defective specks. Christians effortlessly write people off because they believe God will ultimately do likewise. Fortunately, it's not so.

To add to that, would any of you no matter what your kid may do, write your child off, ever? No? Then why on earth do you think God who is supposed to be better than you would??

No one is perfect. A babe before walking will first stumble and fall many times but NEVER gives up until he succeeds.

Always remember, ultimately, to never follow any person's belief. Your relationship with God is between you and God.

If nothing else, remember this: religion = subservience, control and conformity, the same template as EVERY government

Those verse that you point to are valid without a doubt. But you didn't continue to read the rest of the passage.

Please bear with me, and please take time to consider these things.

The verse from John 6, goes on to say this.

John 6:39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

The passage from Matthew 11, also has a more in-depth message.

Matthew 11:23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
Matthew 11:24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
Matthew 11:26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.
Matthew 11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

In the same chapter He makes a plea to everyone,(all).

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Matthew 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Jesus also explained that in the last day we will be judged by the words that He spoke. Those words are written, not to condemn anyone, but to offer life. We all have a choice.

John 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

When we only take the scriptures that sound good to us, and ignore the rest, we are like a cake half turned and a cloud without rain.

In the same chapter that you quoted John 6, toward the end of the chapter, it goes on to talk about the "hard sayings."
Many of Jesus' own disciples went away and walked with Him no more.

When Jesus asked Peter, will you also go?

John 6:67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
John 6:68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

You say that the problem with religion is that they don't believe what certain scriptures say. I disagree, I believe that the problem is that most ignore what all of what they say and run with what sounds good.

But nowhere have I ignored or denied the reality of judgment. Jesus said we'll each receive due for our deeds, which confirms the eye-for-an-eye, tooth-for-a-tooth and burn-for-burn law of Exodus 21. The sentence will always fit the scope of the offense. Going overboard is forbidden - no one will receive a harsher judgment than they've legally earned. Judgment is good, not bad. "When God's judgments are in the earth, its inhabitants will learn righteousness".
And in the end, every knee will bow and every tongue confess the Lord, yes? If God is subject to human free will, as christianity claims, we can only conclude that these folks acknowledging Him will be doing so in full sincerity, by their own choice, yes? How then is salvation not *poured* upon them?

You sort of missed my point. I'd contend Christians are just as bad with this as you claim nonbelievers to be, because when confronted with the evils of their God, they deny it, ignore it, or try and find a way to make it good.

I haven't said that you ignored or denied the reality of judgment. There is judgement that happens during this life, and then there is end-times judgement. And I agree that right now judgement is a good thing. I also agree that the Laws written in Gen-Deut, with each transgression against a fellow human being the punishment was meet for the crime. These are natural laws.

Of the spiritual laws, Jesus said this:

Matthew 5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
Matthew 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
Matthew 5:40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.
Matthew 5:41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

You talked about God pouring salvation on people.

The scriptures say this:

Proverbs 1:23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

There are examples in the bible of those who would not turn at His reproof. Read the accounts of King Saul.

If God doesn't discipline you as he does all of his children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really his children at all. Hebrews 12:8

The Bible is clear that all people are Godís creation (Colossians 1:16), and that God loves the entire world (John 3:16), but only those who are born again are children of God (John 1:12; 11:52; Romans 8:16; 1 John 3:1-10).

Jesus said to the Pharisees:

John 8:41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
John 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
John 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

They may not have turned during their wisp of a sliver of time on earth, but they will. There's nothing like a good krisis to get someone's attention :)

The problem is we've made repentance into a pharisaical work, which we consider ourselves to have faithfully performed, and others to have wickedly neglected. The fact is, everything happens in God's timing and by His hand. We want to judge by how things appear here & now, and are ready to shut the door on those who have not yet crossed the threshold or met the required parameters.

You know, I was reading this passage one day, and what you said reminded me of it.

Matthew 23:15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

That reminds me so much of today.

Before Jesus ascended back into heaven, He said to His disciples:

Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

That reminds me so much of most of the churches today. Some will say that they are making disciples, but for the most part they are making disciples unto themselves, and not unto Christ. Jesus said that we should take up our cross and follow HIM. In most churches where they claim discipleship, the people look like the pastor, they walk like the pastor and they talk like the pastor.

Most have a set doctrine, and if a person searches the scriptures and finds something that is different from what the particular denomination teaches, they are frowned upon and some are even put out of the churches. I know a few who have been put out.

Jesus Himself said, if you continue in My word you are My disciples. And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.

He also said, seek and You shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you, among many other things...build your house upon the rock...etc...

I do agree that there is a level of self righteousness that is very similar to the Pharisees, and it does tend to exclude anyone who is outside of any particular
denomination. Rather than showing people the truth that they can search the scriptures themselves, that they can seek the truth in Jesus and that they will find the truth. I fully believe that we should search the scriptures to see if anything that anyone teaches us regarding them...are true.

I was raised to believe that if I didn't attend a church that there was no hope for me. I walked away for over 30 years believing that God couldn't see me and that He could care a less about me.

How amazed I was when I finally realized that He knows me (and you) by name and that we can seek HIM prayerfully. We can ask Him questions and He answers when we are ready to receive the answers in ways that are undeniable. God is truly amazing.

I don't attend a church to this day.

But I will never again turn away from Him.

I think we need to stop trying to make God human. All this stuff about judgment, rejection, exclusion, wrath, etc are all human traits, which God wouldn't possess being of the spirit and above us. Thus, since God is not human he is not going to act it. It's really that simple.

Agreed, 100%. For those going by scripture, Jesus is called he "express image" (Greek: charakter)of God. And what's the worst thing He ever did? Kicked some greedy scammers' butts out of the temple. I agree, the xians are the most deluded people of all, first off the 3 base words in the original languages don't even mean the same thing as the english word hell, there is no hell for humans as they describe it, there is only death and even that will be abolished during GODs timeline.

Secondly, they continue threatening others with hell and other false teachings while insulting GOD and Christ's completed work on the cross.

GOD had a plan to save everyone, the plan was the cross and Christ was 100% successful at fullfilling this plan. They did this without your permission, long before you were born.

witches are female practitioners of wicca, which is focused on light/love.
your sentence does not make sense.
even if you had a false impression of what a witch was, you should still know that a witch was female. most of the posters here at glp are men, especially the ones wishing death.

Re: If you're eager for someone to burn in hell, you're a heartless witch
If you don't believe in hell, why do you care? And seriously how often does someone tell another to burn in hell and mean it anymore than they would mean "go fuck yourself"? Don't you think you're taking this a little too seriously, especially for someone who doesn't even believe in Jesus? Anti-Christians are all the same, obsessed with some perceived oppression while Christians fight for their freedom of speech.
 Quoting: Hypocrisy

I agree it is exactly like someone telling you to go fly a kite, or go fuck yourself. However answer me this, how do you feel when someone tells you to go fuck yourself? How do you feel when someone tells you to go fly a kite? How do you feel when someone completely ignores everything you say? How do you feel when someone is pushing an ideal on you, that you want no part of? Im sure you wouldn't feel all that great. I'm sure you would be angry at said person. I'm sure you would feel oppressed. I, on the other hand, have NEVER felt oppressed with regards to religion. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no matter how ridiculous and far fetched it may sound. I don't care if someones says im going to hell. I just laugh and walk away.

Anti-christians? Most people that don't believe in god don't believe in ANY RELIGION. That's one thing that i really, really don't like about christians. They always believe that they are numero uno. The one and only. The high and mighty. All other religions are nothing compared to it. All other religions are blasphemy and should be WIPED OUT. Same with Islam. Kill the infidels. Kill christians and catholics, etc. Most religions are like this. They believe theres is the almighty and no one else can tell them otherwise.

Stop thinking that Christianity is the only fricken religion. I am not anti christian. I am anti religion. There is a big difference. I don't believe just one. I don't believe any.

Re: If you're eager for someone to burn in hell, you're a heartless witch
No God of love would need blood to save a person. Period.

You must know a lot, since you know the workings of God.

Can you make the sun stop shining too?

Start a hurricane?

Do you think there aren't spiritual laws, like our physical laws such as the law of gravity.

I believe this is where your argument falls apart.

Yes there are spiritual laws.

Could God start over? Break all the laws(physical, spiritual) that are set up? Of course, but He doesn't want us to perish.

God can do whatever He wants, but at what consequence to the man? With this comes death, pretty basic spiritual law.

God is pure, everything in us that isn't is burned in His presence.

He tried teaching the law, but no man was pure, thus none could stand before Him. This is the purpose of His son, to allow us to stand in His presence

The whole concept of a Christian God is from the Bible, yet people who actually read it must be idiots?

The idiots are the ones who claim to be Christian and don't read it, or who claim to know God's thoughts, but haven't read the source where we get those thoughts from.

If there wasn't a Bible, where would the idea of heaven and hell and God, etc come from. Yet we shouldn't look there?

When Jesus was tempted in the desert by Satan, didn't He quote scripture? Yet we shouldn't?

How can you claim to be something you haven't looked into? Why do you expect Christians to negate the book that they believe in?

I do not agree that Christians or anyone should want anyone to burn in Hell.

Christians are people just like you. Do you ever get mad and say something you shouldn't?

Are you ever in a bad mood? Do anything you're not proud of?

A Christian that says they want someone to burn is, as Christians call it, acting in their flesh, not through the Holy Spirit. Don't listen to it until they stop acting/speaking that way is my advice.

Since you don't believe in Christianity, why do expect Christians to be any different than anyone else?

I can understand other Christians wondering why their brothers/sisters in Christ aren't following the Word, but since you take no stalk in it, why do you expect a change in behavior?

If it is all a bogus religion, then any intelligent person wouldn't expect anything at all.

If you do believe in Christianity, then you would understand the spirit battles the flesh daily.

A Christian is no better than anyone else, they just feel that there is someone besides themselves that they have to answer to.

Criticizing what you, yourself do.
