Poison Ivy Remedy
I have found the best stuff for Poison Ivy, and it's FREE!

Jewel Weed.
It is the most awesome stuff I've ever used for Poison Ivy.
Found it in one of my Herbal Books, and decided to try it, see if it really does work.
I was surprised as Hell...it works better than anything I've ever bought for it!

The Jewel Weed just finished blooming, but isn't dead yet, so there is still time to pick some leaves and make some Poison Ivy killer.
It's a very pretty plant. The blooms are bright orange with darker spots, and it's shaped like a single Monk's Hood bloom, hanging from the stem of the plant. The leaves are kind of oval shaped, and smooth, a med. green color.
Plant is about 21/2 ft. tall.likes to grow around water, creeks, moist woods ect.

What I did, was pick a handfull of the leaves, and chopped them up....then I covered the leaves with distilled water, and warmed them on the stove for about 5 minutes.
I didn't boil it, just did it like when you are preparing a tea...just warm enough to draw the juice from the leaves.
I strained out the leaves, and was left with a bright orange liquid, that I poured into an icecube tray, and froze.

To use it, I simply rubbed the icecube over the affected area a couple of times.
It didn't take more than 2 days to have it dried up and gone!

I'm highly allergic to Poison Ivy, and have had to go get shots before, because 1 small area will spread all over me...:P
I can't tell ya how wonderful it is to know that THAT will never happen again!
Not since I found this stuff!
From here on out...there will always be a ziplock baggie in my freezer with Jewel Weed icecubes in it!
It is the BEST STUFF I've ever used for Poison Ivy...and it's FREE!!!

Re: Poison Ivy Remedy
There are a number of plants that work similar. Miners lettuce has the same active ingredients and works the same way. Must use fresh with 24 hrs or the active ingredients oxidize. I will add this to my list. I found one in Hawaii that works but haven't been able to find out what it is. I suspect that spinach might work as well. Have not tried it thought. rken

Re: Poison Ivy Remedy
I've heard about the burnt motor oil being used to treat mange in animals, with good success before...but never for Poison Ivy.
Seems like the oil would keep it from drying out...scratching

Re: Poison Ivy Remedy
For those people who get it really bad and it goes into the bloodstream and then starts erupting all over the body, this usually works: Take Vit C (ascorbic acid is ok for this), about 500 mg. every two hours until you get loose stool. That means you've reached bowel tolerance, so back off on the dose. This will flush it from the bloodstream and neutralize it. Keep using the jewelweed or whatever else you are doing topically at the same time. When using the jewelweed or other herbal remedies, it is best to cleanse the area first, with baking soda poured on, let it remain a minute or two, rinse it off and dry and then apply the jewelweed. Just works a little faster. The baking soda, being very alkaline, neutralizes the acid in the poison ivy which is the irritating factor.

I'm not so sure about your Vit. C thing, AC...but I think the baking soda suggestion is a good 1.
I've been known to use baking soda alone, before I discovered the Jewel Weed.
Dosen't do much for the itch, but it does help dry it out.

Re: Poison Ivy Remedy
The shot they used to have is the only thing that really worked....you can avoid it as well...only time kills it...seriods and don't scratch helps mitigate it..all other treatments look like they work but that is the placebo effect after the ivy has run its course...

Rashtards

It’s oil from plant causing reaction. Remove the oil. Especially right after you know you’ve touched it.

Buy Tecnu and follow the instructions exactly. Ask any tree worker.
