The powers that be already own the world and everyone in it why would the want to collapse a perfectly good system they created that has been serving them for centyurys.

Because the planet is facing an ele and they want total chaos brought about by economic disaster so they can slip off to the side and close the blast doors while everyone is fighting over groceries.

Think about it if the gov and all the ceo's buggered off without some sort of cover we'd notice find and kill them as we found out why their disappearing even the brainwashed soldiers would take our side if they figured it out..
