Protecting as in you are prey. Helping is different. Helping sees you as equal. One who is capable. Who isn't something need fixing but needs guidance. The guy who played Harry Potter said it best that The guy who played Snape always talked to him like an equal, an adult. Not a child like all the adults on set did. It is called respect no matter age or degree in awareness.
