Have you tried an oatmeal bath? It is supposed to help with the itching. Also Ibuprofen(NSAID) for the swelling and inflammation and washing the red areas with soap and water 2 or 3 times a day.
I am not a doctor so take the advice for what it's worth.
I see you are using homeopathic remedies...I worked in the health food and supplement business for 10 plus years and some situations require that you hit the illness fast and hard. I had strep and was actually told by the homeopath that I worked with to see a M.D. because it needed to be handled quickly... after the antibiotics I was able to use natural methods to cleanse and rebuild my system.

Did you get the vaccine for either one of them?

Here is what you need to do......goto your local GNC store & get Vit. A & D3.

100,000 IU Vit. A per day for 3 days

Then switch over to Vit. D3, 150,000 IU per day for 7 days.

10,000 IU of D3 daily for immune system maintenance.

Zovirax is very useful in quickly healing it. The quicker the better as you dont want the post herpetic nerve pain. It feels like hot needles going in.

Thank you kind sir! Strep is definitely not something to be messed with, understandably. Read somewhere about the Oatmeal bath, also Apple cider vinegar applied to the affected area. I have been also using Aloe straight from the plant and that seems to help. Blessings!

Thank you dear! I have D3 but it is only 1000 IU? Does it come in a greater dosage than that? Oh I have had the chicken pox Vaccine, but not the shingles, Herpes Zoster vaccine, is it too late for that one?

Chicken pox shingles and herpes are the same virus. I used to get break outs on my chin and lips, never could figure out what set it off. THEN I read some book about eating for your blood type and mine said to never eat cashews, that they kicked off shingles. VOILA>. LITERALLY never had another outbreak.

I would feel like I was getting the flu, and then there would be an itch I couldn't scratch deep under the skin...

From personal experience in 2001, don't mess around with the shingles. The anti viral cream works well. NO PILLS, especially A-cyclovier (I went blind for a little while with that). Yes, i've heard of the oatmeal bath, but have never tried it.

In australia you need a prescription for zovirax, as its subsidised. I believe it is quite expensive without the subsidy. Its the only thing that really works for herpes, which is what it is.

It feels like I am getting that now, takes my breath away for a moment. I thought I broke a rib, but there isn't any bruising in that area, and breathing itself is not an issue. We moved an old furnace out of a basement I guess it was too much for me, that is why I thought I broke a rib at first. But then the itching came on. Sucks!

Shingles and Chickenpox are both the herpes virus. Shingles can cause chickenpox.

Once you have contracted shingles it never leaves the body, it just lies dormant until your immunity is compromised.

I would say you have compromised immunity and are run down. I would suggest a trip to your doctor to check out why but as you don't want to...I would suggest rest plenty, eat healthily and see a holistic practitioner to get something to boost your immunity.

I am blood type B pos. does that make a difference? I did read somewhere about chocolate and nuts bringing it on.

LOL you wouldnt believe it but i finished my last tablet Monday (antiviral). This is about my 8th time ive had it. I seem to get it when im run down or have been around someone with chickenpox. Im like you, wanting something natural to help. Ive just started on Ionic silver and also started taking Kali Phos (tissue salt)Beneficial for nerves.

You had the chicken pox vaccine? That explains WHY you have shingles now. Studies have been shown that people who get the chicken pox vaccine are more likely to get shingles.

Don't get the shingles vaccine, you'll just make yourself more suscpetible.

1000 IU isn't even enough to body to function at 100%. Body would use 3000-5000 IU a day for everything. That's why we get cancer, flu, cold, etc due to chronically deficient in vitamin D.

Yes, you can get higher than 1000 IU. The highest you can get is 50,000 IU tablets that you can get at amazon website.

I've read somewhere that you see increased risk of getting shingles if you had gotten chicken pox vaccines compared to natural way of getting CP but making sure you get enough vitamin D all your life will greatly minimize risk of getting shingles (and millions of others).

nah. It's perfectly safe for a short term to rapidly replenish vitamin D to where it should be.

The funny thing is i got chickenpox when i was a teenager but only got about 6 spots. So maybe because i didnt get a big enough dose of it i now get shingles instead. But anyway once you have had them sometimes you can still get the pain without getting the rash (blisters)

Get to a doctor ASAP. It starts as a rash but can turn into big blisters and much worse if not treated. Do not go for the home remedies you need something to calm your nerves down. I have had it and it sucks, my wife also got it last week and they put her on pills, luckely they got it in time.

there is a vaccine now for shingles. I had a severe outbreak few years back ... after the vaccine, flareups vanished. get the vaccine and good luck!

Yeah I think they stopped giving them here in the 1970's to children, when they said the disease was eradicated, lucky (or unlucky) for me I got one, still have the scar on my arm. Looks like they slapped me with a needle with 30 or so needles on the tip, quite the scar on my left arm. I have read some older folks are not impressed with the vaccine since it seems to bring on shingles at least once for them. I know I am not getting it. Thanks I will also check out GNC after visiting the holistic Doc.

I'm not a man over 50, LOL. I am not over 50 at all! That is why I found it strange.

BHT will suppress and potentially cure Shingles. Google it to find a lot of info! I've been taking 500mg a day for 4 months with excellent results.
