Damn, all those poor birds suffered for nothing!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1437365

That's what I always think when I see yet another meat recall or animal cull. Animals are treated like absolute shit on those factory farms, and for that many animals to suffer and then go to waste is just disgusting. Life has no value anymore.

I never thought I would be reading news regarding what I had for dinner hours later on GLP. I must have eaten over half a pound of P963 white honeysuckle ground turkey earlier!

There must be a way to blame all this on China!! Lets be creative because after all that is the popular idea to push these days.

Thats easy the cheap crap they send in has put a lot of pressure on the price of meat so now the only way for the American companys to survive is to sell a substandard product like the chinese sell.

Apparently a number of people have fallen ill due to a salmonella outbreak associated with this product.

From the article:

Meat giant Cargill is recalling 36 million pounds of ground turkey linked to a nationwide salmonella outbreak that has killed one person in California and sickened at least 76 others.

I SPENT YESTERDAY AFTERNOON WITH MY OLDEST SON AT A FARMER'S MARKET SELLING OUR PRODUCTS RAISED HUMANELY, FED PROPERLY, PACKAGED IN SINGLE LOTS AND BARELY SOLD ENOUGH TO PAY FOR GAS AND EXPENSES. OUR SAUSAGE COMES FROM PIGS RAISED IN THE WOODS ON OUR PROPERTY AND SEVERAL PEOPLE ASKED IF WE HAD TURKEY SAUSAGE (THEY SAID THEY WERE CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR HEALTH) I EXPLAINED HOW WE RAISE OUR ANIMALS, WHAT THEY EAT, ETC AND A COUPLE OF THEM BOUGHT A PACKAGE. WE THEN SKIPPED DINNER TO ATTEND A MEETING AT A LOCAL COLLEGE WITH A COUPLE OF OTHER FARMERS TO DISCUSS WHAT WE COULD DO TO IMPROVE THE VIABILITY OF LOCAL FOODS AND BUILD A SUSTAINABLE AND HEALTHY FOOD SYSTEM LOCALLY.

SO MY 16 HOUR DAY THAT REVOLVES AROUND FARMING IN A HEALTHFUL AND SUSTAINABLE MANNER, IN LOVING STEWARDSHIP OF THE LAND, WITH ATTENTION TO THE QUALITY OF THE FINAL PRODUCT, IN KEEPING WITH THE TRADITIONS OF FAMILY FARMING NETS ME ABOUT $200 DEVALUED US DOLLARS WHILE "MEAT GIANT" CARGILL WHO EATS TAXPAYER SUBSIDIES LIKE IT'S POPCORN IN ORDER TO RACK UP BILLION DOLLAR PROFITS WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY KILLING AMERICANS WITH THEIR SO-CALLED "FOOD"?

AND 90% OF THE POSTERS ON GLP WHO SHOULD FUCKING KNOW BETTER ARE WORRIED ABOUT WHAT THEY HAVE IN THEIR FRIDGE BECAUSE THEY CONTINUE TO BUY THIS TOXIC SLOP INSTEAD OF SUPPORTING YOUR LOCAL FARMER?

YOU GUYS SUCK, HARD.

Just wondering what did they say to do with the pkgs? Get rid of it? Send it back to the store or other facility? If it's the latter, it's questionable I think.

Someone here on GLP mentioned about food recalls being set up as a way to round up a massive amount of prepared food in a short time period for the bunkers hiding!! Don't know if it's true but who knows!
 Quoting: GodisWaiting4U

I re-read the article. Funny enough...they don't state what to do with it. I can not speak for other places of business...but where I work, if something is recalled and somebody brings it back to the store, we give a refund and the product thrown immediately in the trash.

I hope like hell other businesses have such a policy in place. If not...they sure as hell should.

I propose people let Cargill have it. And when I say that...I mean hit 'em where it hurts. In the wallet. "I'm sorry" just does not cut it for me when it comes to mega corporations....especially given the fact that it was produced for such a long period of time. If they had any real business ethics the very first time it tested positive, they would have thrown the shit out without hesitation, stopped production and scrubbed the place from top to bottom. Whatever happened to ethics and integrity?

A huge probability for who?

Organic products don't have the problem but processed products do.

Food poisoning come from man tampering with organic foods that are already good for consumption.

Look up how to make kefir, You put milk and the culture in a jar and let it sit at room temperature for days or weeks to let it ferment and then drink it, people have been doing it for hundreds of years.

In fact people have been eating raw foods for thousands of years and still do.

Most of America use pharmaceutical drugs that never cure the sickness, the pharmaceutical companies are basically ran by the same people that run the processed food companies that make people sick, it's a circle.

Organic turkey will never be lumped together with any other turkey unless its not really organic.

The kefir thing was to show how people have brainwashed into believing that things must be sterile to be good for health when in fact sterilisation not only kills bad bacteria it also kills the good bacteria.

Pasteurisation kills bad and good bacteria, people have to have good bacteria in their digestive track to live.

"Pasteur's research also showed that the growth of micro-organisms was responsible for spoiling beverages, such as beer, wine and milk. *****With this established, he invented a process in which liquids such as milk were heated to kill most bacteria and moulds already present within them.***** He and Claude Bernard completed the first test on April 20, 1862. This process was soon afterwards known as pasteurization.[10]"

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

Raw milk(if the animal is fed with green grass only) is abundant in the good bacteria that eat the bad bacteria, pasteurisation just kills both.

Again, people need good bacteria in their digestive track to live, 90-95% good bacteria in the digestive track is good and less than 90% and You will get sick.

That is not the issue! thwak
Do we need POISONOUS BACTERIA in our systems?....NO!....so why do you even go off on that tangent.
It's IRRELEVANT.

Even ORGANIC MEAT can have ORGANIC fertilizer remnants on it that can MAKE YOU VERY ILL.

Re: ***Cargill recalling 36 million pounds of ground turkey!*** - Pin for GLP awareness
Checkin back in on my lunch hour...

It wasn't until after 10 a.m. this morning that we got a fax in from our food distribution warehouse.

So that points to two things....Cargill being slow in getting the word out, and the warehouse probably did not have anybody there to push the word out as quick as possible...which are both fucking wrong.

I got hotter than hell when I saw the fax come in after 10:00 central time. I told the head of the meat department that I made a phone call to the manager on duty last night, and rattled off the pertinent info (I memorized it) that I gave said manager last night. So hopefully all of the affected product is already off of the shelves and disposed of.

By the way, thanks for pinning this for awareness. It was my first pin. So now some mod has my pin virginity notched on their belt. ;-)

Get the word out to your families, please.
I'm just a figment of your imagination ;-)
