Old helicopters kept longer in use than they should, lack of spare parts, sloppy maintenance, too busy flight schedules, overworked crews.

A shithook, (because of all the shit that it kicks up into the air, due to it's dual 60 foot rotors.) was designed in the late 1950's early 60's. It is basically a big truck with flying capability. It is used to transport freight and armored vehicles into a combat zone, or just deliver large things to an area quickly.

It has no weapons of it's own, unless they added shit to it. The apaches and blackhawks are suppossed to clear an area before a chinook goes into it, but apparently they no longer teach operation tactics anymore.

(Too expensive.)

Basically, if the area is not clear, one guy in a spider hole can pop up with an RPG7 and smoke it.
