I am bumping this old thread because the song "Boat on the River" keeps running through my mind today.

I wonder if it has meaning for the "May 15" doom scenarios.

I've always wondered about the "tranquility base" lyric.

Such a sweet, simple, gypsy-like song. It seems to be about someone who faced a doom scenario himself, and lived forever haunted by it.

Ok, I just read on the interwebs that "tranquility base" was the name of the farm of the writer of the song. That the style of the song was influenced by a trip to France. And that the meaning of the song was that the writer missed the peace of home.

One of the things I realize now, is that I under-appreciated bands like Styx when I was younger. Now you turn on the radio and 99 % of the songs on the radio are worse than Styx.
