I am sure not many people on here watch Disney Channel's "Wizards of Waverly Place" with Selena Gomez - but it plays here for the kids.

The upcoming episode (which we watched on demand) is about NASA predicting an asteroid en route to completely destroy the earth. Only those with magical power can leave - or ultimately save earth.

It seems like just a cheap rip-off of Independence Day, but for a show that is usually silly I thought it was introducing a concept to kids that is disturbing.. little kids don't like thinking about the world ending. I don't particularly like thinking about it. But the timing seemed strange with all the hidden planet stuff going on.

I do remember my kids watching that and thinking, it was quite disturbing and I agree that kids shouldn't have to think about the world ending

Thanks for replying. I'm sure it's just another example of Disney being cheap and ripping off another movie.. but it fit in with all the current topics. I really don't like dwelling on that type of doom. If it happens - we are screwed. We don't need a generation of kids not fully living because Disney instilled unnecessary fear.

I used to just have nightmares about missing a test - or failing a class.
