New High: 93% Say They're Paying More for Groceries Than a Year Ago
[link to www.rasmussenreports.com]

Americans nationwide continue to lose faith in the Federal Reserve Board to keep inflation under control, with the number who say they are paying more for groceries now at an all-time high. ... 93% of adults report paying more for groceries now than they did a year ago, the highest finding to date. Only four percent (4%) say they’re not paying more for groceries now compared to a year ago.

Re: New High: 93% Say They're Paying More for Groceries Than a Year Ago
Yes, the cost of groceries is getting outrageous. I think this is happening everywhere, not just in the USA. It seems every week that I go to the store, the prices have risen again.

I bought 5 apples and it cost me $3.38 (I know the exact amount, because the bag with the price sticker on it is sitting on my kitchen table).

A pound of bacon costs $8.50
A one pound bag of shredded cheese costs $6.00
A can of black olives costs $3.50

I live in a country where the average worker earns $300 a month, and food prices are really hitting people hard. I'm doing better than most here, but grocery shopping has become painful for me as well.

The only items that are still cheap are chicken, rice, lentils, oatmeal, bananas, sugar, and coffee, which I have been buying much more of lately.

I suppose I can't complain. Haiti is much poorer, and they have been priced out of food entirely. People are eating cookies made out of dirt in Haiti.

And the other 7% are still shoplifting.

I've seen more people planting gardens because of the price of groceries.

A one pound bag of shredded cheese costs 5$

I don't know about black olives.

I'm able to get bacon a bit cheaper if I go to the membership warehouse and buy it in bulk. At the regular grocery store, it's $8.50 a pound though.

I used to be able to do one stop grocery shopping, but now I'm shopping at 4 different stores to get the best prices. One store will have a few items cheaper than anywhere else and another will have other items cheaper, so now I'm running all over town just to buy food.

Panama must import most of its food, and I have no doubt that this drives the prices up even higher. However, I can buy a great, big bunch of bananas for 50¢.

Thank the fed and it's 'QE' programs.

It's just getting started. QE3, 4, 5, 6, etc etc. The debt is so massive they have to monetize to stay alive as a country. But that will just create hyper inflation. Thousands of dollars to buy bread, yeah check out Weimar Germany.

This is the real cause of the global riots and revolutions.
