All readers of this thread need to realise we do not see the surrounding context to this attack.
Perhaps the victim somehow pissed off the attackers beforehand?
Just sayin' maybe the attackers werent complete psychos?

He also may not have had a bible in his pocket, for all you know he was a pickpocket and one of them cottoned on. Then he could've told the cops a sob story about his bible being nicked. Just sayin'
