Mostly near floodplains but they can be anywheres. I've also seen a salamander here which the white immigrants will say don't exist here but I saw it with my own eyes. Is it a sign of the end? Well since no where is Alaska is a safe zone I would hope not but even our ancestors know a time is coming when the earth will shake and the foundations of the world will change. And I know the stories of how the Alaskan survivors made it. It was difficult and grim and no one in the interior of Alaska had a chance but some survived near the coasts. The clueless swarm of immigrants know nothing of this. Their settlements are mostly within 200 ft of sea level with no strategy. |

Like yours, we could see purple! Usually, the purple is so dull, it's barely visible. I bet it's the intensity of the sun I guess increases the colorization and brightness of the rainbow. |

My wife is Aleut. Alutiiq although they used to call the alutiiq's aleuts but aleuts are a little further down the islands. Both tribes had it pretty bad with first the Russians then the Americans. Which is why you might detect I have a lack of sympathy on the fate of the immigrants. Especially after last weekend. I saw some of the most disgraceful lack of respect for the resource behavior from dumb ass white immigrants while they were fishing. But they don't have a monopoly on idiocy and we are all in it together and unfortunately I don't think many natives will survive either because just like the Hopi said most are asleep and some seem to me to be in a coma and only a handful will wake up. Last time the disaster happened water reached about halfway up the coastal mountain peaks perhaps even higher and washed through interior Alaska destroying that whole area. And the arctic plains saw the ocean wash whales up onto the flanks of the Brooks range. So an underground bunker in the Matanuska/Susitna valley or Anchorage flood plain or most any other community in Ak would not be a good idea. In fact the Mat/su has a region geologists have identified as the same ripple marks as shown in the Washington scablands showing not just a flood but a sustained flow 100's of feet deep roared through there. |

My personal stance on Alaska is that I wish it were a sovereign land, and not part of the USA. Not all of the white "immigrants" you are talking about are disrespectful. It is obvious to me where the water used to be, you can see it in the geography of the valley in Palmer/Wasilla. I'll be going for the mountains if I get a fair warning. |

I know that's probably meaningless to you, but for what it's worth, there it is. We all have to share this world. I wish we were a lot better at caring for it. My ancestry is of people who were white slaves. I never got any training on how to interact with the world in a way that works with it rather than against it. But I do care, and I've been doing a lot of work to overcome that and learn for myself, and to start a new paradigm for my daughter. May we all find peace together, and especially with Earth and our habitat. ![]() No more requests in the "Strangest things" thread please. :hf: Past Lives requests thread: Thread: That Which Once Was: Past Lives |
Sandi_T User ID: 1301649 ![]() 08/18/2011 04:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Lately up in Alaska I have been witnessing some of the most brightest and colorful rainbows I have ever experienced in my life. (no homo) I have a picture but it does not do it justice. I could count 8 different colors in it which is about double what you can regularly see. Also earlier this week I saw a grasshopper while I was at work. I have never seen a grasshopper up here before. Mind you I have spent about 15 years of my life up here, I have never witnessed these two things in Alaska. I just thought I would share. If anyone is really interested I can post a pic at your request. Quoting: coldfiremx84[link to imageshack.us] [link to imageshack.us] Those are beautiful photos, even without being as bright as they actually were. Thanks for sharing them, and please keep us posted if you notice anything else. There are threads all over about missing or unusually abundant wildlife. For example, there are almost no pollinators here, almost no birds, either... but an extreme surplus of squirrels. If we keep track of these things and don't just shrug them off, maybe a pattern will emerge--even if it's just "something ain't right". (Here: New Hampshire) No more requests in the "Strangest things" thread please. :hf: Past Lives requests thread: Thread: That Which Once Was: Past Lives |

As far as animal stuff the only abnormal thing up here is the fish arent biting for crap once they hit fresh water. Usually silvers and kings (salmon) bite good but I have been having the worst luck apparently. I haven't even really been seeing other people catch either. |
