Re: School Vaccination Exemptions
Nice response, Phill. You dodged the question and then posted some stats, completely ignoring MY stats that along with the huge increase in vaccinations, autism and other autoimmune diseases in children have skyrocketed.

Measles, as one example, already declined 98% BEFORE the vaccine came out. A lot of this had to do with advances un sanitation, but you wouldn't know that. You prefer to blindly believe in anything the gubmint tells you. Did you get your flu shot by chance? I hope so, it KILLS!!!! Also, better get anthrax and small pox while you're at it. Don't forget your pertussis booster so you don't kill infants that haven't had their 3 shots yet. It's a moral imperative, don't you think?

Clearly you have not done much research. I can come back with any answer without having to link to CDC websites. All you guys can do is post your so-called "facts" and don't dare to touch upon anything I have said here. So typical.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1517391

LOL so where are your stats? all I see is you stating stuff and not even bothering to give some real numbers. You just say well its because of sanitation while you have no proof for that and just state it.

So why when the global effort to eradicate Polio began in 1988 with vaccinations all over the world did the number of annual diagnosed cases get reduced by 99%; from an estimated 350,000 cases in 1988 to a low of 483 cases in 2001?
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2006))

Just a big coincidence?

And why did they experiment in China with variolation in the 10th century, the same method we use today with small pox, with good results like 0.5–2% mortality rate with people who had variolation, considerably less than the 20–30% mortality rate of the disease itself.

(Washington DC: Public Health Foundation. pp. 281–306.)

That doesn't correlate with your sanitation theory now does it?

Now you are right that sanitation did a LOT to prevent diseases but so did vaccinations.

More info:

Dr. Mayer Eisenstein, MD, JD, MPH

His latest book, Making An Informed Vaccine Decision goes along with his other books: Give Birth at Home With The Home Birth Advantage; Safer Medicine, Don't Vaccinate Before You Educate, 2nd Edition; Unavoidably Dangerous - Medical Hazards of HRT and Unlocking Nature's Pharmacy,. Some of his many guest appearances include: “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and “Hannity and Colmes”.

Don't Vaccinate Before You Educate!

Don't Vaccinate Before You Educate! is a result of Dr. Eisenstein's lectures on vaccinations. Dr. Eisenstein brings his knowledge as a physician, public health doctor and attorney to help educate you on this very important subject. Dr. Eisenstein presents scientific literature both pro and con vaccine. He comes to the conclusion that scientific studies alone will not be enough to decide the benefit vs. the risks of vaccine programs. Therefore, he concludes that personal religious convictions, not scientific studies, are the main reasons, upon which to base your vaccination decision. Unlike most other physicians, he feels parents have a right to be involved in the final decision about vaccinating their children. He discusses vaccine law, religious exemptions with a heavy emphasis on the Illinois law. Don't Vaccinate Before You Educate! will be the beginning of a path to educate families with regard to childhood vaccines.

Excerpts

This book is not meant to convince you to vaccinate or not vaccinate your children but to open your eyes to the ongoing debate.

Education as defined by Webster's College Dictionary:

To impart knowledge to; provide with information; to educate consumers

To educate means to widen one's horizons. I hope that this book will be educational with regard to the vaccine issues and inspire you to become more educated with regard to the risk vs. benefits of vaccine programs.

I have included just a few of the many pro and con scientific vaccine studies. Many more can be obtained by going on the internet to the multiple vaccine sites as well as to the on-line versions of some of the most prestigious medical journals (BMJ, AMA, Pediatrics, Lancet, Journal of Disease of Children).

I hope this book leads you to do more research as well as think about your religious and spiritual convictions. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve so many families. God bless.

Making An Informed Vaccine Decision
Dr. Eisenstein's newest book is now available:
The current schedule of recommended vaccines is so crowded that doctors give babies several shots during a single office visit -- up to eight vaccines all at one time. Parents -- and doctors -- often forget that vaccines are drugs. How often do we, as adults, take that many drugs at the same time? Would we be more surprised if we did or did not have an adverse reaction?
Dr. Mayer Eisenstein has practiced medicine, delivered babies, and provided families with preventive healthcare services for over 35 years. This honest guide to childhood shots was written especially for concerned parents. With Dr. Eisenstein's help, it is now possible to make informed vaccine decisions.
In this book you will learn...
* The prevalence and seriousness of each disease, including who is most at risk.
* How each vaccine is made, with a complete list of ingredients.
* Side effects of each vaccine, with a summary of significant studies.
* Precautions parents can take to protect their children.
* Includes Mercury in Vaccines: A Link to Autism
and more.............

i am a family doc.

I encourage all parents...if they don't want their kids vaccinated...tell me and I'll find a way to get them exempted

the purest form a vaccination is a logical idea. BUT, I do not trust any of the companies making vaccines. Its only about money...

check out the info on the green monkey used to create the first Hep B vaccines in the 1970's. they had SIV

check out SV 40. a simiam virus the makers didn't find until 10's of thousands of kids developed leukemia in the 60's and 70's

Re: School Vaccination Exemptions
Don't trivialize vaccine reactions, please. Many children and babies have died from horrific reactions to vaccines, including brain swelling. Far more children are injured and killed by vaccines in the U.S. than are injured or killed by the illnesses BY FAR. You need to go look at the national vaccine injury compensation fund which exists to pay families of children who have been killed or disabled by vaccines. It pays out millions of dollars a year and many families sadly get turned down.

Yet knowing this fact, some people are still defiant that vaccines cannot cause autism and other immune system diseases, and even though the rates of autism are skyrocketig along with the # of vaxes on the schedule. Also despite the fact that the Amish have virtually no autism amongst their children, and don't vax. Amazing. Sheeple abound even here on GLP.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1517391

clapping

from the amish i see all the time, it seems like the rate of genetic issues is quite low. the people with issues are not hidden. i have shaken hands with a young man with slight genetic abnomalities at a amish store. he was a gentle soul. he's in good hands.

please don't blindly vaccinate. multiple shots enhance chances of severe illness.

I endured chicken pox. Measles and mumps too. Big f'in deal, I got a few days off school for each one, felt like shit for maybe one day in each case.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1193082

I bet you wouldn't survive Smallpox though.
 Quoting: Lotus Flower

For the 3rd time, there is NO smallpox vaccine requirement for children, and smallpox vaccine is one of the most hideous as far as side effects go.

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

The vaccine can cause complications for those around those who are vaccinated. People who get the vaccine will shed virus particles through vesicles on their skin and possibly through their respiratory tract. Infections in close and not-so-close contacts can ensue. The current plan to vaccinate first responders has the potential to cause infection in the most vulnerable section of the population, the hospitalized ill. Family contacts are also susceptible, although they are less vulnerable because their immune systems are presumably intact. Secondary infection can cause skin disease, pulmonary disease and rarely, neurologic disease.

As of June 21, 2003, a scientific advisory panel had issued a recommendation against further vaccination of first responders because a significant number of those vaccinated suffered heart problems, notably pericarditis and myocarditis.

In May 2007, the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) voted unanimously that a new live virus vaccine produced by Acambis, ACAM2000, is both safe and effective for use in persons at high risk of exposure to smallpox virus. However, due to the high rate of serious adverse effects, the vaccine will only be made available to the CDC (a part of the United States Department of Health and Human Services) for the Strategic National Stockpile. [2] [3]

Those side effects include DEATH. The vaccine effectiveness has never even been studied. Are you going to go get your smallpox vaccine now? Or take your chances?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1517391

Not now there is no need NO, why? because Smallpox was eradicated due to a vaccination programme back in the 60s - I was one of those that received that vaccination as was millions of other people and it was due to those vaccinations that Smallpox WAS eradicated, it did not disappear on its own you know!

There is a theory that Smallpox will be used as a biological weapon - strange that, because all Smallpox vaccinations were stopped, therefore a vast number of people on this planet have not been vaccinated against it.

Think outside the box.
 Quoting: Lotus Flower

And I don't even know if I had a smallpox vaccination. I grew up in the 60's, so maybe so. It was well known then that smallpox was bad news, whereas measles, mumps and chicken pox were normal childhood diseases that everyone (more or less) went through.

Mumps parties for girls. Because it's OK when you're a girl but bad news for the fetus if you get it later when you're carrying a baby.

But it's just distraction to say one should vaccinate for low-risk illnesses because there happens to be another much worse one that could be an issue -- even though it's not. Yes there are things that can cause lots of death. But the things we're now vaccinating for mostly are not worth the risks of the shot.

No, I am simply saying if those that are so against vaccinations had their way, Smallpox would once again be rife. Some vaccinations are lifesavers - Rabies being another disease you would not want to catch and no, I do not have the ingredients for that either!!!

Vaccinations have their place.

Stats? rofl

What about all these people, one after another, who say they observe a cause-and-effect relationship between vaccination and chronic problems such as autism. These include people with mathematical and scientific training.

There's also evidence that we have good reason to be suspicious of the way "official" data is collected, analyzed and reported. They're lying. I don't trust their stats, and it's perfectly "scientific" to say that, given the support that exists.

But none of this is the right reason for avoiding vaccination, because that reason is religious objection.

How do you know I don't have a bunker? You know nothing about me. As for polio, I will be happy to address that but I have a meeting to go to right now. LOTS of myths about polio as well, and yes, it was also well on the decline before the advent of the vaccine.

Your kids will not be around my kids !

Hope you are all good at homeschooling and have the time. Technology is changing daily btw. Dont know how any parent now can keep up, many homeschoolers do get behind the national average.

It sure seems like it. People mainly got wiped out because of lack of sanitation. That is a fact. When basic sanitation goes no vaccine will save a person. Indoor plumbing, soap and water, diet, getting rid of pests(bubonic plague)etc and not vaccines is what saved people. Vaccines do have their place I will say but they are not the end all and did not eradicate all disease. They are causing more problems than they are supposedly fixing these days. Vaccinating people like cattle and with too many vaxes is hurting people. Not helping them.

BTW, interesting link between polio and pesticides. Not saying I believe it but again it is interesting.

Re: School Vaccination Exemptions
After the anti-vaccination controversy began, the MMR vaccination compliance dropped sharply in the United Kingdom, from 92% in 1996 to 84% in 2002. In some parts of London, it was as low as 61% in 2003, far below the rate needed to avoid an epidemic of measles. By 2006 coverage for MMR in the UK at 24 months was 85%, lower than the about 94% coverage for other vaccines.

After vaccination rates dropped, the incidence of two of the three diseases increased greatly in the UK. In 1998 there were 56 confirmed cases of measles in the UK; in 2006 there were 449 in the first five months of the year, with the first death since 1992; cases occurred in inadequately vaccinated children. Mumps cases began rising in 1999 after years of very few cases, and by 2005 the United Kingdom was in a mumps epidemic with almost 5000 notifications in the first month of 2005 alone. The age group affected was too old to have received the routine MMR immunisations around the time the paper by Wakefield et al. was published, and too young to have contracted natural mumps as a child, and thus to achieve a herd immunity effect. With the decline in mumps that followed the introduction of the MMR vaccine, these individuals had not been exposed to the disease, but still had no immunity, either natural or vaccine induced. Therefore, as immunisation rates declined following the controversy and the disease re-emerged, they were susceptible to infection. Measles and mumps cases continued in 2006, at incidence rates 13 and 37 times greater than respective 1998 levels. Two children were severely and permanently injured by measles encephalitis despite undergoing kidney transplantation in London.

Disease outbreaks also caused casualties in nearby countries. Three deaths and 1,500 cases were reported in the Irish outbreak of 2000, which occurred as a direct result of decreased vaccination rates following the MMR scare.

In 2008, for the first time in 14 years, measles was declared endemic in the UK, meaning that the disease was sustained within the population; this was caused by the preceding decade's low MMR vaccination rates, which created a population of susceptible children who could spread the disease. MMR vaccination rates for English children were unchanged in 2007–08 from the year before, at too low a level to prevent serious measles outbreaks.[126] In May 2008, a British 17-year-old with an underlying immunodeficiency died of measles. In 2008 Europe also faced a measles epidemic, including large outbreaks in Austria, Italy, and Switzerland.

Following the January 2011 BMJ revelations of fraud by Wakefield, Paul Offit, a pediatrician at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and a "long-time critic of the dangers of the anti-vaccine movement", said, "that paper killed children", and Michael Smith of the University of Louisville, an "infectious diseases expert who has studied the autism controversy's effect on immunization rates", who said "clearly, the results of this (Wakefield) study have had repercussions.

It seems to be human nature to be afraid of making our own decisions, and we seek the opinion's of "Professionals". However, who's ultimately responsible when the advise you rely on is flawed or incorrect? Educate and think for yourself and make more informed decisions on the risks and benefits. When the Black Plague killed half the population in Europe in the 1300s. I think those that refuse vaccinations are crazy. and risking the lives of themselves and others, due to their paranoia

You all dont know Sh*t about malaria and small pox and bubonic plague and the people it kills. Everyone loses a family member where its not controlled.

You all are crazy !

Im so happy to see kids today too, that never have to endure chicken pox, they have a vaccination against that now as well.
 Quoting: APOLLO ILLUMINAUGHTY

don't know if this has been mentioned, but you know that the plague was not in any way 'eradicated' with vaccines. so that is a poor example. all the graphs i have seen, besides measles, has shown the diseases were in sharp or steady decline before they even introduced the vaccines. i mean, did they kill swine flu (H1N1) with a vaccine?

anyways...diseases natural course are to rise and decline in a society.....there are still some diseases today that are just more common in places that are less developed and have poor living conditions.

and you are happy to see kids not have to endure chicken pox? just wait until adult chicken pox becomes common place and THEY die from it. vaccines wear off.

its not crazy not to vaccinate. just as its not crazy to vaccinate...they both have risks and for some kids the risk doesn't happen to be worth it. my kid reacted to vaccines...many kids do to varying degrees.
i just hate when people are so ignorant and judgmental that they think parents who make informed decisions (that may not jive with their own narrow minded opinions) are 'crazy' or even bordering on child abuse. kids die from vaccines, probably more kids are injured vaccines than suffer from these vaccine preventable diseases. majority of kids in america that get measles are fully vaccinated.

 Quoting: Phill

You're wrong. Modern sanitation by far was number 1 for dramatic drop in common diseases. Vaccines are a distant 2nd due to underlying problem... widespread vitamin D deficiency. I only believe vaccines for serious ones but not for common ones that are easy to recover from or even prevent by simply making sure you get enough vitamin D. It is disturbing that 97% of USA is not getting enough vitamin D to keep immune system strong. That's exactly why we had to develop flu vaccines which may or may not even work. Take enough vitamin D and the risk of getting MOST IF NOT ALL strains of flu, cold, and others are greatly reduced. Can you say the same thing about flu vaccines that only cover a few strains? What about cold? Do we even have vaccine for cold? Nope. We'd all be much better off with making sure we get enough vitamin D and cut down numbers of vaccines.

Fun Facts

During the first 3 years of a childs life, the brain can grow 60-80% of adult size..
If you ask me that is some tremendous and important growth occuring during these stages...

Our blood system is equipped with a few filters to help keep our bodys filtered and clean..
The brain has its very own special filter, the blood brain barrier...
The blood brain barrier is NOT fully developed until after 6 months of age..

And the medical community wants to give these babys loaded doses of chemicals, virus, additives and whatever else,
during the most important stages of development for the brain, central nervous system and blood brain barrier...
How stupid are we??????????????

The immune system is also not fully developed and you think 4 shots at one time during four months of age is OK..
With all the combination of many FOREIGN ingrediants flooding the babys system from all seperate shots,
these ingrediants will have open range throughout the body and brain..
This is when problems occur, starting with fevers, bodys natural defense..
but some systems are to weak to handle and more problems arise...
sadly attacking the immature brain and central nervous system....

My first son is paying the price daily, my second son will not get any shots..

That is not true of all doctors. I know one that will give the straight story. Due to potential law suits, she doesn't push it with her patients, but she doesn't think vaccinations are safe or effective. Her own child hasn't been vaccinated for years. If you want the straight scoop from a doctor, you have to let them know how you feel, then ask their opinion of the vaccinations. They have too much liability to try and convert eveyone that goes through their office.
