Earthquakes are natural occurrences caused by the movement of tectonic plates over one another. This stuff happens on Earth, as it does on numerous other planets with a molten core, and rock crust.

Colorado doesn't have a whole lot of earthquake activity. There was really no way to monitor scientifically till about 1960. Here is an interesting link on the seismic activity that has happened here thus far...

I just heard on this morning's news (8-23-11)that a 5.5 earthquake hit the CO/NM border area early last night. Does anyone know any details about this?

all earthquakes at 4.8-5.0km depth - now thats shallow!
