Hey-were you here when Frances and Ivan hit the mountains here? WOW! The flooding was unreal-my husband lost his job when the Biltmore Ave./Swannanoa River road washed his place of work into the French Broad. Our 500 lb chimney cover raised up and off the house about 5 am but hurt nothing. We were sitting on the porch rocking in our chairs wildly when that happened.

I'm in Washington NC and this Irene might give us 100+MPH winds and 20+ inches of rain. Our main exit street is torn up because of new construction...so we are in for a shit load of problems drainage wise if this thing drops even 10 inches of rain in a short time. Worse still is if it stays off the coast of NC, our pamlico river might flood the entire town and no-one could get out except by boat.

If it looks like I need to bug out... could come to your place ? I'm down to my last straw money wise (maybe have a few months of paying minimal bills) so I can't afford a hotel. Just gassed up my car. I'm seriously considering picking up my tent and my massage table and heading west.
