Actually that is not true. Gibson is owned by Henry Juszkiewicz and Dave Berryman, they had purchased the company back in 1985.

FMI (Fender Musical instruments) is a corporation that is publicly traded. It is a merger of Fender and Kaman Music, who was the largest distributor in the world. FMI's CEO is the former head of Guitar Center, that is why you see so many models which are made specifically for them.

TC Electronics is part of TC Group, which has ZERO interest in Gibson.

All Gibson's are made in the USA....their off shore brands are Epiphone, Kramer, Tobias, Steinberger, Valley Arts, and Maestro, which are built mostly by Cortek (Cort) and Samick, the two largest OEM producers of quality Asian instruments.

While TC electronics, Gibson, etc. are all valid points and informational, the issue here is that a group of alphabet soup thugs raided the place WITHOUT DUE PROCESS. IT DOESN"T MATTER WHO OWNS GIBSON.

This isn't a pissing contest about guitar manufacturing trivia. It's expressing abhorrence at the overreach of the doj and the rise of the police state.

I saw this presser on the website and brought it here. If you don't like this info inclosed, send a request to Gibson to unfuck themselves.

LOL- Point well taken. In fact I can help in the seeking of truth. Henry himself said this was political. Many people who work with me are dems but MANY are Repubs. Still few are awake even at my Level (starts with a C). This is much more about the DOJ than Gibson. I don't know how HJ voted but i know he is a fan of Obama and I have been there when he talked to Oprah via cell phone. Didn't sound 'republican' to me.

Can't give up his name, sorry. Too personal for a forum. I can say this. He was a pro baseball player until he threw his pitching are out, Chicago Redsoxs, way back. He was a gifted musician and songwriter, and sometimes appeared with another good friend of his who used to hang out and cook up good cajun food with him. That friend was Justin Wilson.
He was a great amateur golfer who played in pro-ams with Arnold Palmer and Lee Trevino as partners.
And, he was a rice farmer, cattle rancher, and one of my heros in life.

He was also a Democratic Precinct Chairman for years whose political friends became governors and presidents, and he stood down the KKK who tried to keep the blacks in town from voting.

I agree, but I do not believe people should post false information as facts.

I have worked in the Music Industry for the last 10 years and have personal friendships with people from Gibson, FMI, HMG, US Music, AIMM, iMSO, Alfred, and many more. There is far too much disinformation supplied by people on this site.

What the DoJ has done is bullshit, but on the flipside everyone knows that Gibson has been using Indian Rosewood on their high end LP's for years, and some of it had to have been illegally obtained.

Again, this happens more often than people think, and many times it happens to the small luthiers, and you never read about it, unless you receive one of the trade magazines.

If people do not think that there is a difference in tone, Go into any GC, grab a LP standard and then a VOS or reissue. You can feel and see the difference. Most rosewood today is from Central or South America, while on the Custom shop models it is all Indian rosewood.

The best of the best, a Jimmy Page #1 reissue. Perfection in a guitar, but it is the price of a used car.

I would like to think that my Influence is at work here but I don't know.
"Why" I think is related to previous posts about Gibson being one of the few 'American' companies. However I know first hand that HJ is not ignorent about China's quest for world power. We have been moving toward this for some time (details are too numerous).
