Ron Paul (gold standard) vs Bill Still (fiat money)
I like Ron Paul, especially his foreign policy concepts, but I am deeply concerned about his ideas when it comes to the US monetary system.
He advocates returning to the gold standard which would supposedly eliminate current problems with the US dollar. On the other hand, there is this guy, the creator of the Money Masters (a REAL eye opener), Bill Still and his Monetary Reform Act.

I strongly feel Mr. Still is right about this one. History has shown every time the gold standard was adopted, poverty and depression followed. It is true that the fiat currency system has been abused many times but in priciple it is a valid idea - money does not need to have ANY intrinsic value by itself. The quantity of money in circulation should be a matter of simple regulation, sadly up until now it has mostly been a matter of manipulation. But properly implemented thru the Congress, the concept of fiat money is valid.

Like Mr. Still says: the Austrian economists (Ron Paul, Peter Schiff et. al.) are absolutely correct in identifying the problem (the FED money monopoly), but their proposals for rectifying it thru the gold standard are faulty.

The FED as it is right now is surely a malevolent creation and should be blown to bits, as it is the enemy of humanity, not only of the American people.

Your take on control of money creation and the gold standard?

Re: Ron Paul (gold standard) vs Bill Still (fiat money)
I am in complete concurrence. Reason: with the current gold market in place, a basket of currencies could manipulate any nations money at a whim who was partaking in the international gold market via a Gold Reserve or Gold Standard. This has been done in the past to bankrupt nations, and the problem is, very little is understood about international currency trading and commodity liability.
IMO, and per the U.S. Constitution, a gold reserve would be nice, but a gold standard is not necessary for printing. Period. The Lincoln Greenback was printed as a fiat money and worked. Why can't it work again?? We all know why.

I was a young adult, an Air Force wife when Nixon took us off of the gold standard.

I have not ever seen prosperity because the fiat money has been so inflated.

We need a gold standard, maybe a gold/silver standard. As Ron Paul has said, this and possibly some other commodity.

Without it, the money is nothing but toilet paper.

Ron Paul is right.

Bill Still does not advocate 'fiat money', he is a Social Credit advocate. He is aware that Social Credit currencies are NOT translatable to International trade and backs gold and silver as units to facilitate International trade.

Social Credit is not unlike the currency the Nazi's set up based upon an hours labour nor very dissimilar to Mike Riveros' 'Lectro'

I've listened to him speak many time about monetary policy, and a transition from FRN's to another competing currency.
It will be needed to ease the break from the collapsing
fiat FRN.

Whether or not it would be used for international trade is not something that can be forecast at this time.

It would, however be a domestic currency, not a social credit.

1) That is subjective and anecdotal.
2) Logic 101: Correlation does NOT equal causation.

Please read some HISTORY and ECONOMICS and come back and comment when you know what the hell you're talking about.

You've listened to Ron Paul speak many times on this.

Have you READ ANY BOOKS ON THE SUBJECT WRITTEN BY NONPOLITICIANS or listened to opposing views? OF COURSE you haven't because they DON'T SERVE KOOL-AID!

Re: Ron Paul (gold standard) vs Bill Still (fiat money)
Fiat money controlled by elected officials....social credit even better.

Remember we had a gold and silver standard yet TPTB still manipulated them enough to get their central bank in place. Why go back to 1800's again when they will just do the same thing to your children and grandchildren?

Study history so you don't repeat it.
