Upstate NY is about to boom!!! We are all going to be making a killing soon!!!

I live in upstate New York. I don't see it happening.

I've lived in upstate new york its NOT going to happen hydro quebec runs the show...

I also live in "upstate" NY.....actually WNY...there is no way this means squat to us... (south of Buffalo)..

On another note I vote that if you live on Long Island...we will refer to you as Downstate.....everything else is NY!

North Western PA is already tapping this huge field of natural gas. People are getting rich from it and that part of the state is booming.

Considering the need for energy and jobs this is ineveitable. Won't be long before this thing takes off. Young men and women who want to have a decent life will be flocking to this area.

No offense but if they paid me in a 10 pound bar of gold each day, I would not like to live with people from the East coast. They are rude and have lost their humanity long ago.

They did that in NY ten years ago.

Things went BOOM and they made a KILLING.

The Marcellus Shale field is a huge new field that can be tapped. It covers W. Virginia, western PA, eastern Ohio, and south western NY. This is like finding oil, only much cleaner. We can convert our cars and houses to this clean local source of energy.

I believe that's where oil was first discovered in USA...I drove through Oil City and was impressed by its surrounding beauty.

None of it will happen. Free, clean energy will be introduced.

Might I suggest a pin for forward looking GLPers who want to be on the next wave. This is an area to consider if you want to get paid real money when this takes off. You will have to be willing to work you will do well if you get in the way of this opportunity.

You just haven't gotten to know anyone outside of the cities. Here in upstate NY (with the exception of weekends and holidays of course), we are close knit, and for the most part very happy and friendly.

I don't want fracking, and I don't want the nuclear plants, and if that means restricting my energy use so be it, but I wouldn't expect the same from the citiots who don't know anymore than that heating and cooling come from a thermostat, and electric comes from an outlet.

I have a $750 000 dollar house completely paid off, 2 new polaris razors, a brand new ford raptor and tons of cash and a small pirates hoard of precious metals all because I am willing to work no matter what.

Wow, OP. You are scary excited about this new money-making opportunity. Have you looked at why there is so much opposition to fracking in NY? It requires huge amounts of water. It contaminates huge amounts of water. There is always a downside. The chemicals they use are proprietary information so the poor people who have had their properties and wells contaminated don't even know what it is that is making them so ill.

Watch the movie Gaslands. It shows how the chemicals have contaminated water to the extent that they can ignite their water out of the tap. Now that is scary.

I agree with the commenter who is willing to reduce energy use instead of developing more ways to destroy humanity.

TY for this. This is potentially the thing that revives the north east. Its estimated to hold 4 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. We can convert our homes, cars, and businesses over to a clean burning fuel. It will make a great bridge away from oil and bring a lot of money back to this area. People who are against it are against people.

It's not a perfect solution but it's a big step in the right direction. Let's not let the perfect be an enemy of the good. There are people getting rich in PA where they are already doing this so it's just a matter of time before we all get on the money train.

Can you really destroy the fish bowl with something that is already in the fish bowl?
