On Thursday morning, Sept. 29th 2011, we will begin celebrating one of our most important religious holidays, Rosh Hashanah. It remembers the creation of the world. In Hebrew, Rosh Hashanah means the "head of the year." It is also called the Feast of the Trumpets. The blowing of a ram's horn, a shofar, proclaims Rosh Hashanah, and summons jewish people to religious services.

We descendants of ancient Israel used the ram's horn as a trumpet in Biblical times to announce the new Sun, holidays, and war. Today, a variety of horns are used, including curved antelope horns.

For us Rosh Hoshanna it means in our modern day term A New Year in the Jewish Solar Calendar. You can beging your New Year with a clean slate.

Interesting to note, is that Comet Elenin will pas the Earth around sept 26,27 or 28th. A coincidence or is it a Sign from Heaven?
