I would rather not. Somehow, I feel that they would not/are not so friendly. You don't cross the immense gulf between the stars to simply say hello. At best they would be guarded with us... at worst...

It's in the nature of evolution. You wipe out your competitors... it is something that would be ingrained in every species that attains intelligence out there. Because the universe, at best, is competition, overcoming those that challenge you for resources. Even after attaining sentience and perhaps setting aside inter-species conflicts one would not be very much willing to set aside intra-species conflicts.

So, though it is possible to find a mutually agreeable species the odds are against it hard. The way I see it, they would either avoid us, wipe us out or be simply so advanced that they wouldn't even notice us unless we became a nuisance to them (and even then, the worst we could is stub their toe or poke them with a tiny pin before they nova our star.)

I think we need to get ourselves in order first. Come to an understanding of our own existence and how to live peacefully with each other and face the challenges of space travel together before first contact.

Of course... who really knows? Not you and not I. After all the thing about aliens is they're alien. We all project our human nature and psychology onto the hypothetical nature of an alien species (wrongly.) Chances are we simply would never be able to understand one another. We could communicate (using mathematics) - but art, music, culture, human experience, life (and living) as well as psychology would be inapplicable to them. We simply could not find a common ground to walk together on. There could be no true meeting of the minds between us. We would be so very, very different from one another that any such attempt would only lead to a very limited understanding.

REAL extra-terrestial dont read messages on GLP. You need to do something else, maybe build a big transmitter or something like that to send your message.

I dont know what to think about ET's. On one hand since TPTB make them out to be a threat in most movies I think they could actually be coming to help but the media will make them out to be a threat for whatever reason. On the other hand I think they're demons coming to tell us theres no Father in heaven watching down on us and that they're our gods. Im confused about it really but I guess we'll know when they show themselves
