Hard to say, and I usually don't pay much attention to "predictions." But last winter was the coldest we've had in a long time, and this year things are starting to change early. Leaves already changing; already need a light jacket in the morning. Where I live, that's unusual for early September. I will say that spring started early too though... now summer seems to be ending early... maybe the timing of the seasons has just shifted... personally I do believe the earth's axis has changed. Who knows? We will see! |

The leaves are already changing here in western NC, a month and a half early. Quoting: THE Anonymous Coward! Ah... didn't see the thread but, yes, you are on top of it. It is at least 3 to 6 weeks more toward 'fall' than it should be says Nature, IMHO. -- From time to time, the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of patriots and tyrants. We have hardly any roaches here.....there were lots of them last year, but I have hardly seen a handful this summer. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1536916 United States 09/08/2011 08:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Did you notice that here in America the coldest part of the past winter was December? Also, our hottest time was July. It seems like the seasons have moved up a month. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1478493 Why? THIS!!!!! That's what I keep saying. Spring stared early, then summer started early, now fall is starting early. I think it's because the earth's axis has shifted. Also explains why the sun now sets farther north than it used to And yes I realize that a lot of people are "debunking" this and saying it's not true, but I know what I see out of my own windows. I have lived in the same house for seven and a half years. I'm aware of things like seasonal progression of the sun. Have monitored the sun all year long and there is no way anyone will ever convince me the sun is rising/setting in the same place it always has. Perhaps the Japan earthquake shifted the earth's axis? Or perhaps, it's normal for the axis to change now and then. What do we know, we've only been keeping records for, what, a few thousand years? That's nothing. Maybe the earth doesn't rotate on a stationary axis. Maybe it rolls around in more directions than we realize. Who knows? |

It was in the news that the earths axis changed very slightly after the Japan quake, but they also said the change would not be noticed. Guess they were very wrong about that. |

The farmers round here say its a very bad sign for winter. I'm not so sure, conditions for pollination were excellent in the spring - so - correalation or coincidence? |
