Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1043775 Ha.. yeah. You got water? never lost water. I also have water storage so it was never an issue. Have plenty storage here also. But I did find out air compression toilets are a pain in the ass when you lose water pressure. |

wmonell User ID: 1541792 United States 09/09/2011 06:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Talking with a relative in Escondido, they've only been without power there for about an hour and a half. She notices nothing out of the usual there. Most of them have no clue it isn't a localized problem. Quoting: Safia I live here in Escondido, it's a big deal. We handled it like champs, but this is somehting we're going to remember and wonder about. All the states that were affected border Mexico and immigration is daily. I'm have 1/4 conspiracy theorist in me and believe it is a sign, and biblical. We were cut off from 3:45pm-1:46am and there are still areas without power. That's enough time for a lot to happen, that's a whole full time shift with an hour lunch break. Who knows...you can only wonder... |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1541817 United States 09/09/2011 07:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As you must know by now, not JUST the City, but the entire County of San Diego, PLUS part of Orange County, AND Riverside County, AND Imperial County, into Arizona, and northern Baja California, Mexico. About 5 million people affected. I got power back less than 30 minutes ago, it was out here for 11 hours. At least everything in the fridge is still cold (AND frozen in the freezer). AND now I have my fan back, which is certainly MORE IMPORTANT with the recent weather, than having TV and computer back. . |

Wow he must feel very powerful, haha. WTF? So a reset caused the outage? Gimme a break!! Geeze! I have a hard time believing that one station controls Socal, Mexico and AZ? Not much fun for you folks in Cali without water that is the hardest part and of course refrigeration. Hope everyone makes out okay. Can we say test? Blessings! [link to www.abc.net.au] "An ill-fated procedure by an Arizona power utility employee in a small town unleashed a chain of events which brought down power in a large swath of the south-west, the Arizona utility said. A high-power line supplying electricity to southern California failed first. Minutes later that led to a blockage at California's San Onofre nuclear energy plant, a second major source of power to the north of San Diego, which shut down, San Diego Gas and Electric said. San Diego International Airport said it cancelled all outbound flights, traffic came to a standstill as the city's streetlights quit and about 70 people had to be rescued by the city's fire department from stalled elevators. But police in the second largest California city, located between Los Angeles and the Mexican border, reported no major problems and hospitals successfully switched to backup power. San Diego schools were ordered closed until Monday as utilities could not guarantee they would be able to turn on the lights in classrooms." |

I just saw the same info on Fox news and posted it on the other thread discussing this. My ex is an engineer and he's told me that when they build stuff like this they put in multiple redundant systems so that no one person can "accidentally" break anything. There is something wrong with this story for sure! Be safe out there! The outage was accidentally triggered Thursday afternoon when an electrical worker removed a piece of monitoring equipment at a power substation in southwest Arizona, officials at Phoenix-based Arizona Public Service Co. said.
