6 pages of reading...phew.
OP- nice thread- im an anthropologist with many years of research into this topic, and have read the bible many times. There are definate correlations between Sumerian/Akkadian/Babylonian texts and the bible, which was obviously written AFTER these earlier 'stories' had been punched into clay in 'Cunieform' script.

whether or not the bible was intentionally copied from the earlier writings, or did indeed arrive through 'gods word' to the prophets, doesnt matter..let it be.

in this discussion, i have noticed many 'religious' posters engaging in 'reckless words' PROV 12:16, 18. Seriously, i dont believe that any of the statements made by these people have made much sense. before posting these things, re-check scripture to develop arguements (no offense).

The wording of the topic is what has brought these people to the fore, there is no need to compare the two. they were written many years apart, and translations are still very sketchy...the issue being that some words (same as Ancient Hebrew) can be interpretted many different ways.

i believe that the 'search' for truth is extremely important for EVERYONE, whether the truth is to be found in the BIBLE, or within the ENUMA ELISH is dependant on the person, but i wish you all the best of luck on your journey.

feel free to 'box me' if you would like guidance or any questions i can help you with, but i think all of you should step back and realise that it isnt the actual BIBLE or "SUMERIAN TABLETS" that you are defending but your own ego's...let it go.
Peace

oh, and OP...when it states that "And God said, Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness" (GEN26) i believe (as the ancient Sumerians) that we not only physically appear as him/them, we inherited his/their anger, rage, lust etc... food for thought.
