my bank won't take all my change!
hello glp! I've recently started hording 95% copper pennies.I order them and other coin from different banks and turn them into a bank that lets me return their fiat money in a change counter for nothing.i guess i returned too much to soon because the president on the bank told me i'm not allowed to exchange the change more than once a week and not more then $250 dollars worth.i really want to let everyone know that a copper penny is worth about .03 cents in copper and zinc and tin.i know it's illegal to melt pennies down currently but who knows when it will will be lifted and when it does i hope you remember someone told ya!Any ideas on if they are doing me wrong and have to take it or should i bite the bullet and roll it ?

I average about 30-40% copper in a box. Open a minimum savings account @ TCF and they offer free coin counting machines in their branches.

Real copper pennies (about99%) ended in 84 or 85ish. Yes it is illegal to melt USA, as well as Canadian pennies. However.....you can sift thru them, and see if you can find some older ones, as they're selling on eBay. It DOES cost more to make them than they're worth, as most currency is. However.....save your pennies, turn it into paper money and start buying used gold. Way better investment than copper.....you can get copper anywhere after TSHTF.

they are going to remove 1 cent coins in the distant future.

its a logistical nightmare.

it cost more to make, and a lot more to transport.

it has happened already in many countrys.

this person is on the money.

dont buy bullion coins with overpriced premiums unless you know how it works (certain coins premuims are lower when gold price is high, and when gold drops the coins dont.)

just buy 100 yr old sovereigns and the likes.

you cant go wrong. you pay spot price, and never get fakes.

well..what may happen..or is happening, is that gov entities are smelting older coinage..but some banks are still able to make there own rules of legal tender amounts and limits.
