Thanks for that. I just wondered as I took a photo on the day of the Japan earthquake as the contrails were so pronounced. Same as today. These were on the day of the Japan earthquake:

Contrails aren't burning - they are trails of condensed water vapour in the engine exhaust generated under certain atmospheric conditions. Man-made cirrus clouds, if you will.

To the OP - I'm not sure if the atmospheric conditions in England would be relevant to plate tectonics in Japan, but I could be wrong.

I don't know either, it's just that I've noticed that when there are large earthquakes, anywhere in the world, the contrails are really noticeable. Today was the same and there have certainly been a lot of biggish ones today. And, again, nowhere near the UK.

Maybe heightened awareness of your own surroundings due to the earthquakes? Geology and atmosperics aren't my forte though, so I'm probably not the best person to give answers lol!

EDIT - when I said 'heightened awareness' I meant you were more prone to notice them because of the news of the quakes. Perhaps DOOM overload due to GLP?

On the contrary, I noticed the contrails this morning and then looked for the earthquakes later.

well its time to get convinced, because they are real and I have seen them being laid by method of tanker planes using binoculars over Denver.

Tanker planes using binoculars? That's impressive.

Watch the negative karma stream in (as if I care) but anecdotal evidence does not constitute proof.
