Over the past 20 years or so I've made some serious supplement mistakes, and other supplements I rely on.

Mistakes first---

Please don't take chewable vitamin C--ascorbic acid with sugar--sure formula for cavities!! I ruined my teeth with the chewable vitamin C from GNC back in the 80's--sure was tasty --Vitamin C, I figured the more the better--got paid back with a mouthful of mercury.

Soy--Figured (bought the hype) it must be better than milk--We overdosed on SOY, soy formula for the baby who wouldn't breastfeed, soy milk for the kids, eadame, .....lots of soy, and now they say ---NO....hormone disrupting.....seems it was a mistake. Now we drink almond milk--waiting for the shoe to fall on that one and coconut oil. (love em both)

Calcium--now the (alternative) not MSM media says --no to calcium--yes to magnesium.....

and EmergenC-- took it like an addict--but it does have calcium in it--I would recommend restraint.

What do I like now-- I always take magnesium, I take a special "D" (BIO*TECH D3-50) in the winter, I take "Idoral" for Iodine, I take B-12 (Methylcobalamin), B-complex, Niacin (for the flush), B6 for dreams (to help remember them)....a few others now and then, but no calcium--and I won't buy things with "added" calcium or fluoride.

And now I'm going to try the Silica.

I don't recommend what I do, I'm 52, female and just interested in maintaining my health and preventing the early onset Alzheimers that took my father out.

I don't believe we can get the nutrients we need from government supplemented foods, factory farming or depleted soils.

I also believe you can harm yourself with supplements as each one reacts with your body, the food you eat and the other supplements you take.

So, be careful, educate yourself and remember taking vitamins doesn't help one bit if you can't absorb them--each one has a "better" more bio-available type. Just because they add some vitamins to your milk, bread, and cereals doesn't mean you can use them.
