I fully agree that marriage should be a "holy union" and treated as such. As many so-called "Christians" as non-believers make up the percentage of divorces in this country and that is shameful.

However, to the degree that gays should be allowed to marry...read your history. The fall of EVERY great nation from Babylon to Rome has shortly been preceded by the resounding acceptance of homosexuality in their society and the sacrifice of children (abortion, as it is called today). America is already treading dangerously on thin ice, that would be the nail in the coffin, if you ask me.

We need to return marriage to the sanctity intended for it and not completely throw what's left of it under the bus by sanctioning the unnatural act of homosexuality as a qualifier.

Then make divorce ILLEGAL.. CAKE and eat it too...

I agree...then people might put a little more thought into their choice for a marriage partner if they know they are "stuck" with them for life. But going to the extreme and saying gay marriage should be allowed because of the state marriages are in today is going too far.

Just as going to church no more makes you a "Christian" than standing in a garage makes you a car, the same is true for gay marriage. Even if it is allowed, that doesn't make homosexuality an acceptable union in the eyes of The Only One who matters, God Himself.

How about a New Marriage Law that requires those of opposite sex only to marry by making them do councling for 6 months. They would go to a Marriage C. one day a week for two hours and he or she would give them different senioes to answer. Kinda like If your soon to be husband doesn't help around the house, what should you do to fix this problem??? Or if your wife has a spending promblem, how would you approach her to try to solve this problem?. I think if the Marriage C. asks the rights questions, then by the time the 6 months are up, you will know whether you want this person for life???

The Bliss of Love only lasts for so long, I have been married for 19 years and I am only 39 years old, and I have survived, even through the hard times. Now my marriage is perfect and I am bleseed. Ask the right questions before marriage and it will last longer???

One sin is no worse than the other, even down to what we might consider small sins like gossip. All need the forgiveness provided through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

That being said, re-read what I posted above...the fall of every great nation has taken place just after these two sins are widely accepted in their society. Not equating one with the other but merely stating a fact. When a nation ignores that fact, they do so to their own peril.

My parents have been married for 36 years. Good times and bad times. But, People yelling about gays being as bad as cults that "sacrifice children"... come on... I am saying if the problem is that gays getting married would devalue marriage, put a value on it. If you change the law to say gays shall not get married, then the law also needs to say, marriage is forever and divorce is not an option.

I know many "anti-gay marriage" fanatics. One has been married 3 times. She just divorced "number 3". Don't point your moral finger if you yourself did not take marriage seriously to begin with. That's my point.

BTW. You and my parents... That's rare, two decades ago, that would have been the norm. An 8 year old and 5 year old were eating dinner with us the other night. The 8 year old girl said and i Quote, "I cannot believe mom and dad just finally decided to get divorced. Its odd being the one in the class that their parents are still married, plus I cannot wait for two christmas'".

No religion has any right to dictate public policy. Until you can prove that your god exists, religious beliefs are irrelevant to this discussion. Discrimination is wrong and must not be enshrined in law.

The concept of marriage existed long before Judaism. Also, marriage in the bible was a very different concept than the modern institution. Social conservatives prove how full of shit they are by the fact their own marriages bare little resemblance to those of the Bronze Age.

What a stupid thing to say. Marriage is a contract and only human adults can enter into contract. Animals and children cannot.

Other than the above posted reasons....I say let them marry. Society is in the toilet and progressively getting worse. Family is discouraged and too easy to eject from for whatever muldane reasons.

But...why not let gays marry? They should have to deal with the divorces, child custody, distribution of assets, and pain along with the rest of us. Be interesting how the custody and assets thing would shake out in a gay marriage, because usually the woman walks away with the goods. Who would determine who was the "bottom bitch"?

1st of all, homosexuality is not gay. Tere is nothing gay about it and the word gay is not the opposite of straight. An appropriate antonymn of straight would be warpped.

Warpped folks should have equal contractual rights under the law, considering the contractual aspects of the marriage union. They should be able to join as a business partnership, each having an equal share of the responsibilities and benefits of a partnership, which is also part of a marriage agreement.

But unless marriage is re-defined to strictly mean a contract, warpped can never marry. That defies the meaning of the word as presently defined.

It's a legal contract, and that means it's really about money.
