Message Subject 3 Days Of Darkness Coming Up?-Was It The 9th Plague In The Bible?
Poster Handle Anonymous Coward
Post Content
The most important part of the original post/scripture is "23They did not see one another, nor did anyone rise from his place for three days, but(C) all the people of Israel had light where they lived."

Some have discussed what might cause darkness on the earth, but we have not focused on the most interesting part... it points out specifically that they did not see each other even though they had light where they lived. Is it a "blinding" of sorts as one mentioned previously? What kind of darkness is present but still does not allow one to see even with light sources present? Many suggestions do not take this statement into account.

One does not have to believe this account, but it was part of the original post, so I feel it is relevant, at least for this thread.

Peace

See! This is what I mean Some things are in your face and one person does not discern it's true simple meaning, or it is not really visable until the time comes, but you are indeed correct. As though there will be a shade drawn over our eyes. NOw that makes even more sense when you think of how fully that would be felt mentally as well as physically.

Ok, I use KJV for study. I must say that I have not thought much about this plague until now. Interesting.

After reading it in context and thinking about it, it of course can be read another way. It might be stating that they just did not go out and see each other or just that they could not see outside because of the darkness, and simply stayed inside. The interesting part still remains, but with a different emphasis. Maybe it was just a "thick darkness" as stated in the KJV (thick?), but is it stating that no one else had light or could create light except the people of Israel? I have read various statements online recently about "holy candles" and such for the possible coming "darkness". I am not supporting this, but it does speak to the shared idea that God gave them light and to them only. By stating this, is it implying they only the children of Israel had light during the darkness?

Exodus 10:21-23
King James Version (KJV)
21And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.

22And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:

23They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

Yes but I do not feel it will only be Israel this time around...again I am just stating my opinion. Also as it was stated on another thread that Psalms 91 as does others takes on a new meaning when taken into account how it could be the 3 days of darkness refered to.

I agree, only to a point. Israel - which we get from the Greek, is originally in the Hebrew, "Yisrael". Yisrael means, quite literally, "He has striven with God," or "He has been saved by God," based on which translation of "sra" was meant to be used. So, all believers can be called "Israel" (people, not the land per se), so yes I agree it will not only be Israel the land that has "light" (maybe only Yeshua followers this time even?), but Israel the people. :-)
