the site is down for me too. However it is embedded on another site I found and the embedded google map seems to be working. I will check my history and link to the site when I find it.

It's stopped reporting back over Moskva which is North of Georgia (the country).

Now it's starting to lose altitude

OK, maybe that's the "oblongness" (is that a real word?) of the orbit that I noticed when I saw it gaining altitude.

Wondering WHY I couldn't access it. I came here to find out what was wrong.... At least I know it's not just my computer/connection.

I was trying to keep an eye on the speed - not so much the altitude. It WAS slowing down.

No matter what the altitude... if the speed STOPS - IT DROPS.

Now I'm worried.

Nobody knows yet when or where it will re-enter other than it will be on Friday. Here's the latest info ...

As of Sept. 21, 2011, the orbit of UARS was 120 mi by 130 mi (195 km by 210 km). Re-entry is expected Sept. 23, United States time. The time reference does not mean that the satellite is expected to re-enter over the United States. It is simply a time reference. Although it is still too early to predict the time and location of re-entry, predictions of the time period are becoming more refined.
