I served as a Marine aviation weather forecaster for 12 yrs...I know weather. The atmosphere is like a cake...with lots of layers. Some of these levels have drastically different moisture and temperature characteristics. Contrails are created when the water vapor amounts in the atmosphere is high enough to reach saturation in the pressure inside the engine. It cools as it exits and condenses. The presence/absence and duration of contrails is determined by the amount of water vapor in the air (vapor pressure of water vapor). Whether or not contrails will form is easily forecasted and an estimate can even be made as to their duration. We did it all the time in the military because if you're trying to be stealthy, you don't fly at a level where you'll produce contrails. Again....it's about altitude and moisture content....you aren't being sprayed....find another fear....I would suggest latching on to the Illuminati....that shit is for real. Same as long as how condensation on your window would last for. Depending on outside temperature or the temperature of the water vapour. Now the reason some look fluffy is because they're at a lower altitude. Same way as sharpness decreases as you increase resolution. Higher in altitude the trail is more 'sharp' so it seems less, fluffy. The number of engines the planes have effect it too. If you have for engines, you're going to have a wider trail. Whereas if you have a thinner trail you're going to have a sharper more thin trail. - Made a typo in a post and lost Karma :< |
