I will give you the obvious answer: NO. They will be completely willing to sell you contaminated food or other products. Not to get off track but I believe this individual is one of these foreigners living in Japan who is in denial as to what is happening around him. I see many of these on other forums. I understand his feeling as the reality is far too grim to accept and many have great lives being a lady's man in Japan but this is happening and we can do nothing about it. The one way to bring about real change, I feel, is for the people of Tokyo to go on mass strike for an indeterminate period of time. This will bring the gears of the Made in Japan economy to a grinding halt and allow for change to be forced (removing those in power). Frankly, this is what the US needs as well. It seems the only way to effect real change. A peaceful revolution if you will. But getting such a thing started, especially in Japan, seems an extremely difficult prospect. Even if triple nuclear meltdown most people are going on with their robotic lives without a thought about the contamination and what is happening a mere ~200 km to the north. |

We tried and failed in the sixties. I'm just a tired old hippy but I believe nuclear technology is a 'forbidden fruit' and should have never been tasted. We, 'humans', are not intellectually, culturally nor civilly advanced enough to deal with such power. The proof of that assumption is the employment of the power of the atom for destruction, profit and cheap power for the growth of an untenable economy. Einstein knew. He warned us. |
