Fuck yeah! India files biopiracy lawsuit against Monsanto! Say they are stealing nature for money!
[link to www.naturalnews.com]
India has become a primary target for biotechnology companies like Monsanto and Cargill to spread their genetically-modified (GM) crops into new markets. However, a recent France 24 report explains that the Indian government has decided to take an offensive approach against this attempted agricultural takeover by suing Monsanto for "biopiracy," accusing the company of stealing India's indigenous plants in order to re-engineer them into patented varieties.

This is good news.
I'm glad they are standing up to this monster.
However, I think they/we will need something stronger than a law suit.

Yay, India! Am I wrong, or do I remember that Monsanto once tried to patent or copyright Basmati rice? That is some ridiculous shit, presuming to copyright the ancient heritage of a people.

That's like saying "why don't we (US) just ban their products and services?" I ban Monsanto. Anyone else ban them too?

Oh wait, I can't as they have me by the balls because I like to eat things other than air. Eating just air makes me burp a lot.

Yes. India's government it moving to protect it's people. That's just weird compared to the broader world. I wish my government liked me enough to consider my best interests over the big money.

We all CAN do something to hit Monsanto and it's ilk right in the kisser! Educate yourself as to their products and vote with your money - don't buy the products. Spread the word - you'll be surprised how many will listen and start doing little adjustments in their lives to purposefully exclude GMO's and their variants from their diet...

I was into organic foods way back in the seventies as a teenager due to growing up with "homegrown" natural foods and still do live that way to the extent I can afford it in my life. And I'll never change...

I agree with your sentiments exactly TouchyFelis!
Here in Canada they ( the government ) let Monsanto take an older couple from Saskatchewan to court over having some of Monsanto plants growing on their property without having a contract to grow it...
Turns out a neighbor growing Monsanto crops, spilled some seed along the ditch bordering the older couples property. It cost the older couple every cent they had to fight Monsanto... And Monsanto knew the truth about how those plants got onto the couple's property.... Monsanto doesn't give a dam about people. They want MONEY
I never did hear if there was any conclution to this court case. this was a news story on CBC this year.
If someone out there knows the outcome to this story I'd love to hear from you.

Hear about Codex Alimentarius? I hear they want to outlaw home vegetable gardens. Can you imagine getting busted for growing a bit of basil and pole beans in your backyard in the name of "safety?" Monsanto and international government: Keepin' you safe.

Codex Alimentarius \The NWO plan to slowly kill you and your familes and friends
More and more people are becoming concerned about the shady, secretive organization that is Codex Alimentarius - the thinly-veiled propaganda arm of the international pharmaceutical industry that does everything it can to promote industry objectives whilst limiting individual options to maintain health (which would diminish mermbers profits).

Codex alimentarius is one of the major bodies behind the effort to limit access to nutritional products and information. Its motivation is not rocket science and neither is the source of its funding - money that somehow expected to return a profit to its members . . . Most of the information available regarding codex alimentarius refers to its role in the USA, but it is not a US-specific body. Far from it, Codex has wiggled its dirty little tentacles into just about every national or international body concerned with public health. Posing as a benefactor, it then...

WHAT CODEX WILL BRING
What can we expect under Codex? To give you an idea, here are some important points:

Dietary supplements could not be sold for preventive (prophylactic) or therapeutic use.
Potencies would be limited to extremely low dosages. Only the drug companies and the big phytopharmaceutical companies would have the right to produce and sell the higher potency products (at inflated prices).
Prescriptions would be required for anything above the extremely low doses allowed (such as 35 mg. on niacin).
Common foods such as garlic and peppermint would be classified as drugs or a third category (neither food nor drugs) that only big pharmaceutical companies could regulate and sell. Any food with any therapeutic effect can be considered a drug, even benign everyday substances like water.
Codex regulations for dietary supplements would become binding (escape clauses would be eliminated).
All new dietary supplements would be banned unless they go through Codex testing and approval.
Genetically altered food would be sold worldwide without labeling.
