All of the earthquakes at Canary Island have been in the same exact spot of 27.60 N 18.00 W. Look here and go as far back as you want and you will see the same exact coordinates for all the 8000+ quakes that have struck that region.

The Island is not heavily populated but that is not the concern. Hopefully the cliff will not slide into ocean.

The island with the crack is La Palma.

[link to www.drgeorgepc.com]

Being that this is El Hierro, I would hesitate to be too concerned about La Palma. Understandbly, the earth shaking so much could weaken the subterranean structure of La Palma, or spark a nearby eruption. The current quakes however are not centered near La Palma.

I understand that. But with an earthquake in the 6 to 7+ mag could possibly effect La Palma.

Agreed, but I hope we are all wrong.

My concern about the GLP effect in this case is that it will be ineffective. The reason being is that we are all focusing on the wrong island.

Hey OP,

I've seen many threads on the Canary Island quakes. What does it mean exactly, I know there's a volcano there, but is it supposed to be a big one. What would a full blown eruption cause?

Thanks! I'll be following your thread!

There are many Volcanoes there, Something like 6. The danger is not so much in an eruption but the fact that the cliffs on the Western portion of these islands are so tall and steep that they are on the verge of sliding off into the ocean. That is where the danger lays. 1000 tons of debris and rock could suddenly fall into the ocean and cause a Mega-Tsunami. Bringing in waves as tall as 100 feet into the eastern seaboard of the USA. From Florida all the way up to Maine. The Caribbean islands are at risk so is the Europe and vicinity.
